you cant rate xabi by his goal tally can you? thats not what he does. look at any other similar player and alonso fairs quite well

      essien 23 in 197 (a goal every 9 games)
      xavi 20 in 264 (every 12 games)
      fabregas 7 in 107 (every 15 games)
      vieira 37 in 387 (10 games)

plus the fact masch has never scored a league goal in his career.

we shouldn't sell alonso as he's world class and it would be a move backwards for the club. as someone said before id rather sell zenden and momo before xabi.
You're right. It's not about is goal tally. It's about balance. We look better with Mascher/Gerrrard than we do with any combo Alonso offers. Mascher covers more ground than Alonso and he will allow for Gerrard to be more offensive. With Mascher in there Gerrard will score more. I'm sure of that.

Anyway - didn't mean to upset anybody. I just think that Alonso has shown that he suffers from "The Spanish Disease". He needs more time on the ball than the PL offers. The opposition knows that these dasy so they sit on him and shut him down. It's too easy.

Have no idea what you said there

It's long enough but it's too early?

Now, have a look at Mascher then in this perspective.
Alonso, frankly, is better at this than him. Could be he more used to the PL, but still, he is better than Masch at keeping ans shielding the ball and making sure he has enough time on the ball.

He is hinting at the same contradiction I was pointing out for you earlier.

Too early to judge Maschers effectiveness, when you were faced with stats, but early enough to let the player he replaces (in you opinion) go...

I think he means he finds it puzzling that you deem it too early in Mascherano's LFC career to evaluate him, yet you're more than prepared to sacrifice Alonso despite having only seen Masher play for us a handful of times.
Thanks very much for being ‘This Mornings’ Farmer’

I disagree. Mascher is more versatile. He covers more ground and can dribble and create. He will be one of the best HMs in this game. Alonso was never a HM. He was shoehorned into that position. For me it's about finding the perfect player for Gerrard at CM. If you don't think that Gerrard should be at CM then we will never agree on this.

Really - way to decipher a coded message, Shags. I thought it was Kaip doing a porno number on me. "too long and too early".

I think most of us watched the WC and saw enough?! Anyway, I'm confident that Mascher is a better option.

Alonso can be used to get a serious name in Spain. Great leverage as it were. I would love if that happend.

When SG should play CM is dependent on the opposition, and on SG himself really, if he can keep his position.

I was not talking about Mascher/Xabi in general, but referring to your point about Xabi not having enough time on the ball and getting closed down a lot.
