Agree totally. Every now and then the press jump on the bandwagon of a tradegy that they think will sell papers and tug at the nations heartstrings. It's been a while since we had the last media frenzy and so I guess we were due one.

People go missing across UK/Europe/The World everyday and nobody bats an eyelid. Good luck to Maddie's family, I hope they take advantage of this media tidal wave and find their little girl.

I understand the point that is being made, but I think it is secondary to what really is the point of this thread, the point was to raise awareness, i understand the point being made about the press, but IMO thats not what this thread was intended for. As I said earlier, that kind of talk is better suited to the Library, not the LFC forum.

We all know the media in this country is 99% utter tripe. I have no problem with this case being in the media for the next 12 months or until the child is found. For ONCE the media is being used as a force for good rather than tittle tattle about mashed up retarded celebrities and their so-called lives.
A minutes silence seems inappropriate to me but I suppose the point is that we spend a minute remembering the girl and what she must be going through or have been through.
I would be more than happy for their to be banners etc during tomorrow night's match reminding everyone of her plight.

As fo the parents, there won't be anything anyone can ever say about them that will make them feel worse than they do right now. I think we should lay off them especially as we don't have all the facts.

For AA to say it's ridiculous is well.... ridiculous. I'm not judging the lad I just find it staggering that anyone would question anything if it brings a girl home where she belongs.

It seems a bit weird to me to do a minutes silence when there is a chance that she is still alive. I mean it doesn't bother me if people wish to do so, but surely that sort of thing is usually reserved for people who have passed away?

i could be wrong but i think thats the point AA was making,and at no point did he say the parents were wrong to be milking the media for all the publicity the case is receiving.

to me thats not begrudging the parents the press their getting or wishing anything but a speedy return for little maddie,its just stating a fact that happens to be true.

But what can you do ? some parents are useless and yet they stroll through life with their kids unharmed ! thankfully.

My ten year old said right from the beginning " I feel sorry for Maddie, but not her parents, why did they leave her alone?" - obviously he's only ten so it's all cut and dried to him - he feels for her cos she has "useless parents".

This was followed this morning by my fourteen year old saying "It says here [he was reading the paper] that Maddie's Dad is gonna pay for a Private Detective to find her. If he's got that much money why didn't he pay for the babysitting service at the hotel? Priorities and Wrong".

I haven't really said much at all to my kids about it, and I find it fascinating how they pick up things and comment.

the ridiculous comment was ridiculous. Just because there are others that are missing and not getting the same coverage, it doesn't make trying to find a 4 year old girl ridiculous. What may be ridiculous is that the others that are missing do not get the same coverage which is a different story altogether. I am sure AA does not find the notion of raising awareness of a missing 4 year girl THAT bad, but only he can comment on that really

Was just hoping you'd all give the boys a thumbs up for the effort, and wish the family well.
It doesn't take much, such good will doesn't require over analysis such as what I've seen in the previous 4 pages.

I feel sorry for those families I really do but surely you can that a brittish girl getting taken is more relevent to UK news?
