Went down to the TO this morning

I realise this may be in the wrong place sorry.

Some people turned up today on a rumour and were just hoping and others were there to pick up pre-paid from Sunday phonecalls.

I had a witheld number on my home phone on Sunday morning when I was out.

I was convinced it was the club trying to contact me and trawled through forums to see that the club were indeed phoning people on Sunday morning for a third ballot.

I got there about 8.45 this morning and already a queue had started in front of me.

Lads were going up to the desk saying they had a phone call when it was quite clear they hadn't but trying it on.

People who like me had missed calls.

People who had been in when the club rang, made a a payment over the phone and then happily picked them up this morning.

It was like Charlie and The Chocolate factory standing behind the Iron gates looking in and wanting to get to that ticket window.

One lad handed over 4 fancards and got 3 tickets.

I was there till about 12.45 due to the fact that some off the staff went on a lunch break and they only served one person at a time.

The 300 or so crowd were getting even more frustrated at this point and things finally boiled over when The Steward came over and pointed out that there were 15 £145 tickets left.

Within 15 minutes the Sold Out message was relayed down the line.

There was about 20 people in front of me so I reckon if I'd have been there about 2 hours earlier I'd be packing my bags now..

THE CLUB STILL HAD TICKETS FOR SALE THIS MORNING.

    FACT!

Yet more evidence of a balls up!

    Ah well, unlucky mate.

Don't understand why a third ballot was needed though. Was it because others who had won i nthe first and second didn't claim the tickets?

Confusion still reigns over ticket fiasco

        May 22 2007

        by Luke Traynor, Liverpool Echo

ANGRY Liverpool fans converged on Anfield yesterday to demand answers in another twist of the Athens ticket fiasco.

Long queues snaked alongside the stadium with some lucky supporters leaving ecstatic after picking up last-minute tickets.

But confusion still reigned outside the Kop as many remained uncertain over who was entitled to tickets.

It appeared fans arriving at Anfield yesterday were those who had been successful in the club’s second ballot, held last week.

The club said those picked out by the computer in that ballot, a result of unwanted tickets from those who had attended seven European fixtures, would receive a phone call from the ticket office.

But it is unclear if every successful fan from the second ballot was telephoned, and consequently hundreds converged on the stadium to try their luck.

Some frustrated fans claimed many were pretending they had been called and leaving, stunned, with Athens tickets.

Other rumours circulated that fans were being sent away by staff, only to join the queue again, and get a ticket second time round.

The gates to the office were closed at 12pm yesterday and the message board read: “Liverpool v Milan. All tickets sold.”

Furious fans shouted at club officials through the railings and even remonstrated with community relations official and former player Brian Hall.

Mark Johnson, 25, from Anfield, said: “The communication between the club and the fans should have been a lot better, and people arriving at the stadium haven’t known if they are entitled to a ticket or not.”

A Liverpool FC statement read: “We would like to advise supporters that, following the second ballot, all tickets for the Champions League final have now sold out.

“No further tickets will be available from Liverpool Football Club.

“Only fans who have received a telephone call from the ticket office informing them they have a ticket should queue at the ticket office.

“No tickets will be sold to anyone else.”

Just believe and you never know what will happen.

According to Benitez it's important not simply to go out to win but to go out prepared to win, which means players have to put in the same level of work on a daily basis. Anything else is unacceptable.
