Yeah watched it, thought it was a strange statement and that Kuyt was the hard working player and someone like Eto'o would be the goalscoring machine.

Is he trying to but everyone off the idea that Eto'o is a Liverpool target.

Kuyt could very well be the man if Rafa takes the shakles off next season. Some one who is acustomed to playing the second striker role could very well be the answer rather than buying someone in the form of Eto'o.

As much as I love the thought of signing Villa, Eto'o etc... I never really thought that they were within our reach. Tevez or Torres on the other hand just might be.

Agreed. The top was where he played for Feyenoord to devastating effect.

People keep slating Kuyt for not scoring enough goals this season (this despite the fact that he was our leading scorer in the EPL) but he's not been in his preferred position at the top. He is not a second striker by nature, and is much better suited being in the box.

The suggestion that we'll buy a hard-working second striker and have Kuyt in a more advanced role makes sense. Voronin is more a second striker too, although I could be wrong.
