    Kewell to stay?

Liverpool coach Ayestaran hints at transfer plans
    tribalfooball.com - May 22, 2007

Liverpool coach Pako Ayestaran has hinted they'll be seeking midfield creativity in the summer market.

He told liverpoolfc.tv: "One of our main problems is that, when you compare with the other top four teams, we haven't really scored too many goals. This is not the mistake just of the strikers. It's also for the midfielders, and also our defenders could sometimes have supported the attack better.

"We haven't been as aggressive going forward as we have in defending. United have also been really effective in wide areas. There are not many world-class wide players, and United have Giggs and Ronaldo. For me, Chelsea were more effective when they had Duff and Robben. With Liverpool, we have been without Harry Kewell all season. He has this kind of quality."
Just believe and you never know what will happen.

According to Benitez it's important not simply to go out to win but to go out prepared to win, which means players have to put in the same level of work on a daily basis. Anything else is unacceptable.

Alves will be our right winger. Kewell will stay, probably Gonzo too. I can't see Rafa splasing money on a left winger again, with Leto coming in also.

With Leiva bringing an attacking thread from CM, and Pennant still to come, I can't see beyond Eto'o and Alves as our two big signings. The other ones will be young players just to toughen up the squad.

If Eto'o, Alves and Lucas were our major signings this summer i would be very happy. I wouldnt be surprised to see another big name though. We clearly have the money, and G&H want to make a point this transfer period.

        Eto'o Tevez and Alves

If we could get Tevez the better, but I doubt we'll be going for him too. Just a hunch.

Rafa will try to sign Tevez IMO and I think he will get him.

Tevez, Eto'o, G.Milito, Alves plus an attacking midfielder.

I wouldn't be surprised if Sissoko and Alonso leaves. If Xabi was 100% sure that he would stay then he would already have agreed a new deal just like Gerrard, Finnan and Carra. If that happens then Rafa would need to sign another central midfielder.

I really do think Kewell will stay. On form and fit (yeah I know) hes world class. We would only get a relatively small fee so apart from saving in wages , I cant see any point in leaving him go.

Sick of the anti-Kewell sentiments on here tbh. You'd think he was injuring himself on purpose, some of the crap I hear on here. What footballer in his right-mind would fake an injury to sit on the sidelines.

Winston Bogarde - Although admittedly the alternative was to play for Chelsea.

Did he fake injury though? I thought he just flat out refused to leave, so they just let him rot in the reserves.

It was a joke really. He was accussed of it at one stage but I suspect it was just made up paper stories.

Although on a serious note didn't Mourinho accuse Sheva of doing it earlier in the season or was that more paper talk?

Agreed AF I think your spot on mate. Why on earth would Rafa buy more midfielders in Leiva and masher and the possibility of Simoa etc, joining us when we've already got a strong MF, somethings defo going down

I cant see us signing all those that you have mentioned, as cool as that would to have them all.
I think one of Eto'o and Tevez will come with third choice being Fernando Torres.
Alves is a very real possibility, it surely must be between him and Simao for right midfield.
As for the new centre back, Milito sounds like a good option, providing we have the funds.

'Take that poof bandage off, and what do you mean YOUR knee, it's LIVERPOOL'S knee !'

"Sorry, boss, I should have kept my legs together," said Lawrence. "No, Tommy, your mother should have kept her legs together!," replied Shankly.

If anything, we could possibly get rid of one of our midfield players, not two, why dilute our options so much when we are just getting the options that Rafa craves. I could even see us holding onto all of our midfielders, Rafa has been saying we dont have the squad depth to challenge for the league, well now we are getting closer to that squad depth, Next season if he is still here will be Sissoko's biggest test yet in a red shirt, he must be under huge pressure now, if only he could learn how to pass the ball. I'd also love to know what Alonso wage demands in his contract are?, I hope he doesn't feel too under valued if the reports are true about us rejecting his demands.

Eto'o seems to have ruled himself out.
