My brother is out there and he said the forgeries are extremely difficult to tell from the genuine article

Hes fortunate enough to have a ticket as he went to all the CL games home and away this season but there are people he is with who are racing around trying to get tickets and 99% of those offerred appear to be fake

sounds like a nightmare scenario, also, is it just my imagination, or are the ones that are appearing on sky sports news (the real tickets fans are showing) looking really cheap and easy to copy?
Bill shankly to Tommy Smith after he'd turned up for training with a bandaged knee:
'Take that poof bandage off, and what do you mean YOUR knee, it's LIVERPOOL'S knee !'

"Sorry, boss, I should have kept my legs together," said Lawrence. "No, Tommy, your mother should have kept her legs together!," replied Shankly.

The real tickets aren't as good as the Istanbul ones. Ours didn't even have the name of the teams on - just "Finalist A".

1415: Reports on BBC News 24 have confirmed that the last charter flight carrying fans from Liverpool to Athens has been cancelled. About 150 fans are stranded and now have no means of getting to the game.

The general organisation for this final seems like a complete balls up from start to finish. Was it this bad for Istanbul? I honestly can't remember so many tales of woe a couple of years back.
What have I learned, Mr Mackay? Three things. One - bide your time. Two - keep your nose clean. And three - don't let the *******s grind you down

My brother has said the only real differences between the fakes and the genuine is that "Athens" is written in almost watermark ink on the white part of the stub and the genuine hologram is bright and has all the colours of the rainbow

The fakes in general dont have the "Athens" on the stub and the hologram looks very dull

that could explain the amount of forgeries so.

Always has to be a few pricks to the let the club down.

There's a decent account of the incident on the Guardian website. Doesn't sound as bad as it did when I first heard about it.
                    http://football.guardian.co.uk/News_...086260,00.html

                    A couple of key paragraphs:

A Greek police spokewoman said that in a small incident at 2am in Monastiraki Square two English people were involved in an argument. They went to hospital but were not badly hurt. There are no charges. "Both of the men are now in hospital and they have told nursing staff what happened," he said. "Their injuries are not serious."

But these were isolated incidents, with most of 12,000 Liverpool supporters in Athens happy to gather in Syntagma Square and sing "You'll Never Walk Alone" and other Kop favourites until about 2am. Fans climbed onto statues and hung banners around the square, but the evening was good-natured and police kept an extremely low profile watch on events. "There are many people here and many people were out for much of the night - but it was very peaceful," the police spokesman told Guardian Unlimited.
