Flight from Liverpool to Athens cancelled

Just read this on bbc, gutted for the fans

"Reports on BBC News 24 have confirmed that the last charter flight carrying fans from Liverpool to Athens has been cancelled. About 150 fans are stranded and now have no means of getting to the game". Technical problems with aircraft apparently. At this rate there are going to be alot of empty seats!

Quite a good build up report on here

Has the strike in Italy been called off yet? A lot of Milan fans are gonna end up in the same situation too otherwise.
        Oh I don't know.

It gets worse (from bbc)...The flight was scheduled to leave at 1000 this morning and was delayed and delayed until the fans were finally given the terrible news 10 minutes before they were eventually due to board. How bad and how sickening is that?

that is sickening, they must be gutted. Just hope the lads win it for them now.
Bill shankly to Tommy Smith after he'd turned up for training with a bandaged knee:
'Take that poof bandage off, and what do you mean YOUR knee, it's LIVERPOOL'S knee !'

"Sorry, boss, I should have kept my legs together," said Lawrence. "No, Tommy, your mother should have kept her legs together!," replied Shankly.

            * After Tommy Lawrence had let in a fluke goal between his legs

I think it's going to be even worse coming home.

At least they had two airports in Istanbul.

Anyone know if they managed to find another plane?

They interviewed one of the lads who was supposed to be on that flight on Talksport at lunchtime. He was gutted but still able to crack jokes about it all - fair play to him as I'd have been crying on air!

talkSPORT had a supposed interviews from one of the fellas who was supposed to be on the plane. Apparently they'd shelled out £600 each for a seat.

I feel for everyone who was due on that flight.
