he also sounds pissed off with the faffing about the club does when trying to sign a player, bloody hell it takes us an age to negotiate a transfer, remember the Alves episode last year.

He is a great player. He has been a top player for Bayern for years, domestically and in Europe, and just because he never got a chance in the England squad and people don't watch/rate German football shouldn't be allowed to take away from that. IMO he will be as influential for United as Makelele is for Chelsea.Originally posted by Colemere View PostHe is **** though, one good game against Portugal and his value has rocketed. He is the type of player I would have expected us to buy had we not got more money now."The man who never alters his opinion is like standing water, and breeds reptiles of the mind."

He is far from being worth £18million, when you think most tout Xabi's price as £15million.Originally posted by desertscouser View PostHargreaves is far from being a sh!t player.
Before the Portugal game everyone hated him and didn't want him in the England squad. I have a tutor who said before the world cup he would be the worst player ever to win it, now he wants UTD to spend £20million on him
Based on what?

At this stage in Uniteds progression they only ever neeed to pick the ideal person to add to their squas and get thhem no matter what the price. I suspect Hargreaves will adapt quickly to the PL and has brilliant short passing and a good tactical brain. IMO he is what they need to add to the squad to really compete in Europe.
The reason people rate Hargreaves is because he has been a very good player for Bayern over a long period of time. Is veratile in that he is bothe mobile and capable of playing a pressing game yet positionally and tactically aware enough to play a genuine holding role. There are very few players of that type who are a/ available and b/ appear likely to adapt to the PL.
After that they need to replace an ageing Giggs. But they can probably wait another year to do that as they have Park to fill in."The man who never alters his opinion is like standing water, and breeds reptiles of the mind."

Fair play to Rafa. At least he has a pair to admit some of his signings have underperformed and will rectify the situation. I do look forward to the summer transfer activities.
With the right player and with Rafa's tactical genius, I have no doubt that we will be a major force in Europe for years to come (and hopefully domestically)

Wow!!!
he means business...and does indeed sound pissed off.
The fact that he has mentioned our skimping in the striker department, leads me to think he is going to make a very big signing there.

Spot on mate. If you don't perform your gone and I totally back Rafa's ruthless streak. Our previous manager would never admit that he got it wrong in the transfer market and we would be stuck trying to fit square pegs into round holes instead of putting his hand up and admitting error.Originally posted by JCase View PostFair play to Rafa. Me, I’m either planning a holiday or I’m on one.

The good thing here is that he's getting shot of players who have not performed, even after one season. Gerrard Houllier would be adamant and stick to his guns to prove to everyone that the player is half decent. With Rafa, if they don't cut the mustard, they're out. Gonzalez, Kromkamp, Josemi, Nunez.
Respect to Rafa.

He soudns really pissed, I think he is blaming the defeat on not having the relevant quality needed to win such games, instead having to do with bargain buys.
Just hope the new owners aren't too offended by his aggressive approach. I sure they will understand his frustration though.Bill shankly to Tommy Smith after he'd turned up for training with a bandaged knee:
'Take that poof bandage off, and what do you mean YOUR knee, it's LIVERPOOL'S knee !'
"Sorry, boss, I should have kept my legs together," said Lawrence. "No, Tommy, your mother should have kept her legs together!," replied Shankly.

It sounds to me like Rafa has already presented a list of players with an estimated price and Tom and George have already said ok.Originally posted by fredo View PostWell, the owners have told him that he'll be backed and to put a name and a price. They had a brilliant honeymoon, now is 'money time' for them.
