Not a chance. Rafa would have to be ultra brave to do that. There would be alot of anger if that happenedOriginally posted by einar View PostGerrard?“Hicks could have purchased Dallas’ MLS franchise but decided not to. ‘In hindsight, I probably made the wrong decision,’ he said.“.

After last night I have to say that Kaka would have done a better job then Gerrard did in the position Gerrard played.
Dont get me wrong, I love Steve, But the fact remains that Rafa does not want to use him in a two man midfield, and Gerrard does not really shine in front of a two man midfield.
So IMHO trading Gerrard for Kaka would make our team tactically stronger.

YIKES people! Stevie is our leader and even talking about him possible leaving is madness. Stevie G and Kaka in the same team is more like it! (and our team, not Milan)“Hicks could have purchased Dallas’ MLS franchise but decided not to. ‘In hindsight, I probably made the wrong decision,’ he said.“.

Well, he certainly thought about leaving us, so I think we can discuss whether selling him could improve our team.Originally posted by Fowler_God View PostYIKES people! I think this is less a statement of holding the owner's feet to the fire (what has been asked that hasn't been produced? Nothing) than setting the bar for Rafa's expectations. And he's right; you can't compete in the transfer market for the best players with a nickle and dime approach to transfers. You have to be able to compete with the best on all fronts in order to be the best. And Rafa wants to be the best, as we all do. So, let's go shopping and bring home our #1 targets."Our legacy begets an excellence that surpasses the particulars of who produces it." -- David Carr

Fair enough mate.Originally posted by einar View PostWell, he certainly thought about leaving us, so I think we can discuss whether selling him could improve our team.
Just that some people tend to over-react when Stevie hasnt scored a 40 yard scorcher or has a bad game. If we ever sold him we would badly regret it. Some players have massive reputations without anything to back them up. Their name becomes bigger than their talents. This is not the case with Stevie. He has everything to his game. I cant think of ANY player in the world who can play in numerous postions at a world class level.
Ask Kaka to play as a right back to help you win the European cup. He would try, but wouldnt come close to Stevie. Ask Kaka to sit in midfield and defend a win, he would try again but couldnt do it. Kaka and Stevie are on par in midfield as attacking players, but Stevie can also defend, go box to box, be a leader, inspire his team mates.
Kaka in the team with Gerrard - YES. Kaka in the team instead of Stevie G - NOOOO way“Hicks could have purchased Dallas’ MLS franchise but decided not to. ‘In hindsight, I probably made the wrong decision,’ he said.“.

Gerrard is certainly more versatile, and more of a leader, and a local. One can name a hundred reasons for not selling him. (Plus I dont think we will )Originally posted by Fowler_God View PostFair enough mate.

oh for ****s sakes, listen to yourselves....dont even think of selling stevie, jesus, kaka yes, great player and all but id choose stevie over him every time...would love the both of them mind. We are going to have an ace summer and to be linked with every superstar is going to be unusual, even more so as we will actually land a few of them!! lets be cheerful and all stick up for this club we love so much.
But dont ruin things by even talking about stevie going......ffs.

I think your right away from home but at home he will play him there, Stevie is a fantastic player but is still ill disciplined positionally, he wanders trying to influence things all the time, this is fine against Charlton at home but not against Ac Milan in the CL final. Rafa knows best.08-09 Dirk monitor
5 goals (target 15)
3 assists also........
