i know this has been done to death,but i just watched the final again,and i stood up for rafa when he played him against chelsea,and heres why,cole and fierra are the "wingers" for chelsea with the formation that they play,and out of all our wingers hes the most defensive one we have.example.. ferria never attacked us over the 2 legs! example 2... just watch the final again,when kaka gets the ball for the 2nd goal,he passes it,drifts into space,gets it back and kewell looks at kuyt as much to say "are you marking him" and neighter one even attempts to chase after him! my point...wouldnt have happened if zenden was on the pitch,hence rafa,s decision to play him in 3 of our most important games of the season! but then,rafa tells him soon after the game that he can speak to other clubs???? now that was a surprise

There's no doubt about it, Zenden worked his fookin bollox off when he played or us and more than times than not remained disciplined. Not good enough as a player anymore but for sheer workrate and discipline you can see where Rafa was coming from when he selected him.

Zenden is a good player but he doesn't offer much offensively. He can't really beat his man with pace anymore and relies on hopeful balls more than anything. That's why he's being shipped on. We need players who can beat his man and create / score goals. A fully fit Harry Kewell can still do that and we must buy another proven talent to compete with him.
