    New Stadium

Check out this web site. www.newanfield.co.uk On it Hicks says our new ground is to have 4 different, unique stands!?!??!!I can't imagine what the **** that's gonna look like. I think the idea is to build a complete stadium from new which looks like its been built in stages over a longer period of time. The retro look if you like.

Makes sense to have it modularised- so we can upgrade the parts seperately.

Sounds like we might have troublec getting the "mid to high 70s" immediately though if he is talking about that down the line. That was said elsewhere by some poster- cant remember who. This quotation fits in with what he says.

They are starting on site this month, on the basis of the current planning permission, whilst seeking a new Planning consent for a 78,000 seater. Word on the street is that Liverpool's planners doubt whether we will get to 78,000 because of the transport issues and have warned LFC that if they don't stick with what they've got, they might hit trouble, particularly as with a bigger ground comes the likelihood that local people will object, launch a legal challenge (judicial review) and more than likely, even if approved by the Council, the Secretary of State would call it in.

I just can't believe they (G&H) would start something of this magnitude without having been given a nod or a wink regarding future expansion. Getting it up to 75000+ is integral to their entire investment. The locals WANT it. The infrastructure will be sorted. Just look at what has been done in this respect with the locale of the Dallas Cowboys stadium.

Hicks did say on his ITV Interview before the final they would be going for a mid 70's capacity at the new stadium.

As a resident of Anfield word locally is that the regeneration of this whole area is one of the largest ever undertaken in Europe with the stadium being pivotal. 75000+ is a certainty. i'd bet my left testicle on it. In fact i'd bet both of 'em on it!

The club hold all the cards here really, I dont see them limiting themselves in the negotians with the council like previously. I am sure their favoured option is to complete the new stadium in Stanley Park but if they do not get the permission I am sure they will say they will move the stadium to another area. This would do untold damage to the local economy and the Americans know it.
