Gerrard voted Player of the Season

Steven Gerrard has been voted Liverpool's best player this season by the fans who took part in an exclusive vote on this website.

The Liverpool captain was also voted Liverpoolfc.tv's player of the season with Jamie Carragher runner-up. In the supporters vote Dirk Kuyt was runner-up to Gerrard.

Throughout this season Liverpoolfc.tv together with the fans have been voting for Liverpool's top three performers after each game, and now the points have been totted up to reveal Gerrard as a clear winner in both polls.

After each game the winner of each poll got three points, the runner-up received two and the third best player was awarded one.

I agree, Gerrard has been our best player this season. He may not have have been at his best but he was our most important & dangerous player more often than not.

I understand why people disagree with his selection because someone like finnan has played to their best whilst SG hasn't but SG has still been our best player. In short SG playing at say 90% capacity is a more effective player than finnan playing at his best.

Take Gerrard out and the top 5 is almost the same. just in a slightly different order. Stevie G, our best payer though he is, definitely shouldn't be our player of the season, or even all that close.

Masher is high up considering he only played a handful of games since mid feb. Very Credible showing. Could he have been player of the season if he was here all year?

It's just the nature of how these tables and the scoring works, seems obvious to me that our standout players have been Carra and Agger this season, Mascher later on, and then you have the more depandable players like Reina and Finnan.

After reading one of Stevie G's interviews this week, he won't agree with the result of that poll and will feel a bit embarassed by it.
