Just because we don't have anyone better doesn't mean we should keep a player. We should be targetting a top left back if Insua is not ready for the first team to challenge Aurelio. Risse is not good enough but I would keep him as backup

If these quotes from Momo are ture, personally I wouldnt bat an eyelid, he is clearly a shodow of the player that Mascherano is. At 22 and playing at the top level, he should be an accomplished passer of the ball. He is not, and has a very heavy first touch. Such control should be well within your amourary at this age. He wil never be a top level player, be remains a top level tackler.

I understand now, thats the reason we have our best defensive record when Riise plays. Aurellio has not played enough to show he is better than Riise.

Risse is player with limited ability who is often caught out of position. If Aurelio had not been injured so often this year Risse would not have played very often at left back.

I mean at times Rafa has preferred to play Arbeloa there - that says all you need to know about his confidence in Risse as a defender.

He played Arbeloa there to mark a specific player, he never stuck him there week in week out. Riise was, when Riise plays we have a better defensive record than when he doesn't. Aurellio has not shown he is a better defender than Riise.

We concede more goals down our left than anywhere else. Our defence would be even better with a defender of the ilk of Finnan on that side. That said Riise is good enough for the squad but we need better if we are to take points of the top 4 or teams with good wingers (admittedly not many).

We may do, but it is not a priority in any way. Our Defence is excellent even at its weakest point. Riise offers more going forward than Finnan too.

Agree. Its definitely low priority. Just wanted to make sure people knew our defense was brilliant in spite of Riise not because of him.

I would be sad to see Momo go but at the end of the day he is not as good as the other 3 main midfielders (I have not seen anything of Lucas but a youtube video).

His energy is unbound but his distribution is woeful. I am sure it can be improved but that will take time and we need it to improve now.

You cannot blame him for having thoughts about his future, what with Lucas and Mascherano having come in. It was hardly an attack on Rafa.

sarcasm and irony, mate. Clearly Momo isn't good at shooting - that's not what his game is about. But he offers other things to our CM that, for example, Xabi, doesn't. Namely covers more ground, tackels effectively and provides solid protection for the back 4.

Momo does NOT protect the back four. He plays far in advance of a holding midfielder. His job is to press in the mid and final 3rds and win/recover possession. He does that better than anyone else.

If he can get his passing to the level it was at the beginning of the season and add a decent shot, he'll be irreplacable.

What I find amazing is that Momo started his career as a striker.
