It's easy to say in hindsightOriginally posted by CAD View PostMy point is that Mascher could have done it without Alonso allowing us to have Gerrard and Kuyt in the center. Pennant would have had Crouch to aim at in the box.
I think it would have made all the difference. To play that Milan side with two defensive mildfielders was overcautious and a mistake in my humble opinion.
You forget though that the same Milan side ran circles around United with 1 defensive midfielder. You have to mark Seedorf and Kaka to stop Milan. One player cant do that
Rafa's selection made Milan look ordinary. He's rightly upset that we didnt have the Quality up front to finish them off

I'm not sure whether i'd count Carrick as defensive midfielder, hence the scum bags signing Hargreaves (do you remember when he was always picked by Sven and everybody hated him, he has a couple of good games and is worth £20mOriginally posted by SouthAfricaRed View PostIt's easy to say in hindsight

With hindsight i'd agree with we should have played with Mascha and Gerrard in the centre and Kuyt and Crouch up front, but that's with hindsight. We come not to play.

if he gets everything and still complains then id say it will be a sure thing he doesnt like the YanksOriginally posted by Pacman View PostNo not really because my question is all about Rafa and his moaning. What if GG and TH give him everthing he needs and he still has a pop? I just getting a little feeling that he will never be happy and at the min he blames everyone but himself.
When you feel like you're done, you are not alone........

No hindsight. I said it in tomasjjs thread before the matchOriginally posted by SouthAfricaRed View PostIt's easy to say in hindsight

We were somewhere around Barstow on the edge of the desert when the drugs began to take hold.

You did.Originally posted by CAD View PostNo hindsight. I said it in tomasjjs thread before the match
I wanted Crouch to play with SG on the right.
You wanted Alonso on the bench (you tool) and Crouch up front and Pennant on the right.
Still, I think Rafa got it right from the start. We controlled Milan and created some decent chances in the 1st half, all according to our game plan I would say.
Then a jammy goal upset us. And we didnt have the quality up front to bag the few chances we got....sadly....

With your formation, Gerrard would be tied up marking Seedorf/Kaka with Mascherano, eliminating him as an attacking optionOriginally posted by CAD View PostNo hindsight. I said it in tomasjjs thread before the match

Fergie gave them that match. He played Indian football with Ronaldo and Giggs on the wings. Something close to a 4-3-2-1. Two completely different scenarios imo. Gerrard and Mascher could have done the job and we would have looked better with Crouch on top. Pennants/Zendens crosses were wasted through out the entire 1st half. We needed Crouch much more than we needed Alonso.Originally posted by SouthAfricaRed View PostIt's easy to say in hindsight

Seedorf was nowhere to be seen in the final. Sit on Gattuso and Kaka and Milan has no answer.

I defo think we could have put even more pressure on that Milan side. They were nowhere near as strong as some posters here want you to believe.Originally posted by tomasjj View PostYou did.

Two defensive midfielders was a mistake.
Another failure from Rafa was how he used the bench IMO. He should have reacted much faster when they got the lead. Kewell and Crouch came on too late and Bellars should have been thrown on at the end if possible.
Overcautious. No balls for Rafa on this one.

I agree with one thing - Kewell and Crouch on earlier when we needed a goal.Originally posted by CAD View PostI defo think we could have put even more pressure on that Milan side. They were nowhere near as strong as some posters here want you to believe.
