Can we change this title to "Rafa and his wanting to improve the club"

No not really because my question is all about Rafa and his moaning. What if GG and TH give him everthing he needs and he still has a pop? I just getting a little feeling that he will never be happy and at the min he blames everyone but himself.

My point is that Mascher could have done it without Alonso allowing us to have Gerrard and Kuyt in the center. Pennant would have had Crouch to aim at in the box.

I think it would have made all the difference. To play that Milan side with two defensive mildfielders was overcautious and a mistake in my humble opinion.

I'm not sure whether i'd count Carrick as defensive midfielder, hence the scum bags signing Hargreaves (do you remember when he was always picked by Sven and everybody hated him, he has a couple of good games and is worth £20m )

With hindsight i'd agree with we should have played with Mascha and Gerrard in the centre and Kuyt and Crouch up front, but that's with hindsight.

I wanted Crouch to play with SG on the right.
You wanted Alonso on the bench (you tool) and Crouch up front and Pennant on the right.

Still, I think Rafa got it right from the start. We controlled Milan and created some decent chances in the 1st half, all according to our game plan I would say.
Then a jammy goal upset us. And we didnt have the quality up front to bag the few chances we got....sadly....

With your formation, Gerrard would be tied up marking Seedorf/Kaka with Mascherano, eliminating him as an attacking option

Fergie gave them that match. He played Indian football with Ronaldo and Giggs on the wings. Something close to a 4-3-2-1. Two completely different scenarios imo. Gerrard and Mascher could have done the job and we would have looked better with Crouch on top. Pennants/Zendens crosses were wasted through out the entire 1st half. We needed Crouch much more than we needed Alonso.

Seedorf was nowhere to be seen in the final. Sit on Gattuso and Kaka and Milan has no answer.
