    wage bills

    Chelsea - £114m
    Manchester Utd - £85m
    Arsenal - £83m
    Liverpool - £69m
    Newcastle Utd - £52m

Is this an indicator we don't have enough top players who would command the top wages? So we need to spend more on players transfer fees and their wages...

    Over to you again G&H

    Arsenal £83m

Very surprised by that given alot of their big earners have moved on in recent seasons. Viera, Cole, Bergkamp & Campbell have all gone.

Where have you taken this from?

Given that Arsenal have an upper limit on the wages they offer and the fact that a lot of their players are quite young, I find it rather surprising that their wage bill is that much higher than ours.

We have a fair few players on a lot of money as well: Gerrard (100K), Carra (60K), Kewell (45-60K), Garcia (40K), Alonso, Reina et al.

And I'm fairly suprised the Barcodes are so far behind us; it's seemed to me that every half-decent single player they've bought in the last 3 years has been given at least £60k/week (well, Parker, Emre, Duff, Martins, Owen etc)
I could not dig, I dared not rob:
Therefore I lied to please the mob.
Now all my lies are proved untrue
And I must face the men I slew.
What tale shall serve me here among
        Mine angry and defrauded young?

apologies chaps. This is slightly out of date as is for 2005/06 season. I've taken it from BBC sport.

I think Newcastle would have closed the gap with Duff and Martins

Chelski would have skyrocketed with Shevchenko and Ballack

We lost a few High paid players - Diao and Hamann, But the New contracts for Gerrard, Alonso, Reina and Carragher will increase it. This is one list we dont want to be leading though

I think Henry, Fabregas, Gilberto, Gallas, Hleb, Van Persie and Rosicky are on High wages.

Gallas rejected 80k/week from Chelski. Cant see him going to Arsenal for less.

Remember Arsenal were busted a few years ago for paying money into players off shore accounts to evade taxes I dont buy their salary ceiling. Might be the official line, but not many pros will receive lower wages for the love of the club. Especially since none of them are home grown

Chavski's is probably higher now, given Shevchenko's and Ballacks wages.

As an entire club, the yearly wage bill is the highest of any sports team in the world, so I read.
