    Last Player to receive a Testimonial?

    Probably going to wreck heads with this, but seeing as my head is wrecked with it, got to share the feeling....

    Ronnie Moran's it was offered was the last to receive a testimonial in another thread. But a player in my living memory?

    I've thrawled the interneto and the memory bank, seem to remember Steve Staunton getting one, but that could of been for Ireland and played against Liverpool, were he played for both teams. I think (nearly sure) I was at it in Lansdowne Rd, which makes my decisiveness more worrying!!

    Bruce Grobbelaar? Steve Nichol?

    My memory tells me Steve Nicol, but I could be waaaaaay wrong.

      shaggy I think you're right, I remember watching the Nicol testimonial back in maybe 1994?

          Check Ebay for testimonial programs. The last one I can remember was for Molby in 1996. Ronnie Moran had one against Celtic in 2000.

            I still remember (and still have the programme) Steve Heighway's testimonial.

                  I think it's a foul, and if the ref gives it. He got to give a penalty. I know it's outside the box, but you see them given that close to the area. So if the ref gives it he's got to give the penalty as it so close to the area. But I think it's a penalty. Robbie Savage 8/11/06

                    Just googled him and he retired in 94 cause of a back injury but was only there for something like 4 years.

                            Still its over 10 years since we've had a testimonial, shows a lack of stability. Was sure Robbie was a stick on. Carra and Stevie G will deffo make it. Carra might even get 2 if he can play in goal.
