    Depressed thread....

Utd are already miles ahead of us, in terms of attacking quality, flair, excitement and goals, and they go and sign two of the best young attacking players in europe. They might be rough diamonds, but are diamonds never-the-less, look at ronaldo, add Rooney into the mix who had a poor season by his standards and they had a five or six attacking players who can score create and/or beat their man. They are prob going to sign a forward too, for about 20 mil. £70 mil outlay. Says it all.

We need to sign some huge talent to even have a chance next season.

    Soryy for being so depressing

Errrr Lucas, Leto, these 2 Hungarian Lads.

Wakey wakey, you're being sucked into the hype around Nani and Anderson. 2 players I'd never heard of before this summer.

I'm not worried YET, but i hoped we'd be the biggest spenders this summer so we could do some much needed catching up.

Utd spluff 50m before its even started and will probably buy again.

Will we spend in the region of 100m. I doubt it.

It does sound terrible news, Makes me sick to see Manure splash all this cash, but then i say to myself that we have a great manager and we havent showed our hand yet in the transfer market yet.....who knows our possibilities yet, only G & H, Rafa and Parry. It will be interesting who our first few signing will be. A signing like Eto'o, Alves and that ilk would make me very happy.

....but id say most of our potential signings play in Spain so thats why we havent splashed the cash yet, give it 3 weeks and will see the new players come in. Im sure many potential signings deals are way down the line in negotiating terms

I'm unconvinced that Uniteds first team will be any stronger this season than last. the one player who might make a difference (and even that will be felt more in Europe) is Hargreaves.

The difference is that they are able to build for the future with signings of potential - we need signings that work out stright off. I don't think a 10 or 15 point improvement would be that hard with the spine we have now meaning that we can concentrate on attacking players. Not sure we can close the gap entirely but I think we can be a great deal closer than last season - especially if we win our games against them. This season we did well in restricting them at Anfield and I can see us being more dangerous next term - so who knows.

How much did they spend last year?

He is spending what he did not spend last year plus this year's budget!

Also, the two youngsters are not the "best young attacking players in europe".

Nani is class, not sure about the other lad.

We've bought a few, but to be honest, I haven't seen any of them play.

Anway, we need some top class purchases at the moment ahead of anything else, and if Parry is left to close the deals I don't hold out much hope.

I still don't think we'll finish in the top 4 this season."

two seasons agothey finish one point ahead of us, sell the horse and sign carrick. we have a ****e season in the league and they play to their absolute maximum. we finish third and in neutral for the last month whilst they win the league. they are going to find it very hard to follow up last season with a repeat performance with giggs and scholes a year older and their respective replacemants potential only.

we on the other hand need to reach our potential in the league by getting a pacey striker who can lead the line, eto'o, torres or my favourite longshot anelka, and strengthen in the wide areas. players individually and the teamcollectively got nowhere near their potential last season, a good preseason and a full squad will narrow the gap.

i fully expect us to overtake the scum next season but am not convinced chelsea will struggle as they did last season.

With the present strikeforce, no way.

                          Anelka is not the answer...IMO
