0, 1, 3, 4, or 6 pointers?

    0, 1, 3, 4, or 6 pointers?

    Going on from someone posting about getting 93 points next season to win the title, where do you reckon we'll get these points? I don't think any of the teams in the league will take 6 points of us however you never know with the scum and Arsenal.
    So where and how will we get over 90 points?

    Arsenal - 4 pointer
    Aston Villa - 6
    Birmingham - 6
    Blackburn Rovers - 4
    Bolton Wanderers - 4
    Chelsea - 3
    Derby - 6
    Everton - 6
    Fulham - 6
    Manchester City - 6
    Manchester United - 1 or 3?
    Middlesbrough - 4
    Newcastle United - 6
    Portsmouth - 4
    Reading - 4
    Sunderland - 6
    Tottenham Hotspur FC - 4
    West Ham United FC - 6
    Wigan Athletic FC - 6

    Total - 92 points. Looking at that it is very possible and our key to this will be getting of to a good start

    It was me who said 93 - and there was no science behind it, just using it as a benchmark figure for what we'd need to probably win it.

        Whatever happened to taking each game as it comes? As long as we are 1 point better off than second place I will be very happy. Which will probably be 90 odd points.

          8 Draws
          10 Defeats

          to

          29 Wins
          6 Draws
          3 Defeats

          Not intending to be pessimistic but that doesn't look too likely to me!!

            so we only loose 2 games. don't think thats realistic, our away for has to improve allot before it's possible...

              I agree about taking each game as it comes but i'm sure rafa does something like this at the beginning of each season.

                I think even this year the gap could have been less if it wasn't for the fact we were in the CL final and rested our players. We probably should have been around 15 points off the top. I also think this season will be much tougher for everyone with so many teams spending substantial money, getting away results will become even more difficult. Teams like Villa, portsmouth, west ham and spurs, will be even more difficult to beat next year.

                    What we need to do is beat Utd, Chelsea and Arsenal or at least draw. We've given up too many points against out competitors. If we managed 4 points off the top teams, 80'ish points could well win the title.

                      It's what Utd and the Chavs did to win the titles over the past 3 yrs. Arsenal went that whole season without defeat. But we cannot even think about matching those sorts of campaigns without getting in signifcant funds to buy the players we desparately need.

                          In games between the top 4 last year Arsenal came top. Arsenal finished 4th.

                          So your theory does not run true. At the end of the day we need about 90 points and makes sod all difference who you get them off. On the otherhand if it's tight at the top they're the games you would want to win as they're classed as 6 pointers, but it's the end total that counts.

                            Yeah it looks very possible on paper, but football doesnt work like that. We'll drop points we expect to win and sometimes we'll win where we might not be expecting it.

                            If it was as simple as that, we'd all be fleecing the bookies for millions.

                              To be fair, the 10 defeats last season is a bit misleading, as we lost about 4 of those when we'd stopped caring.

                              To have any chance of winning the title, we need to more or less go unbeaten at home. Which is do-able. The away form is another story.

                              And we need to stop bending over when we face the other 3 big boys.
