Things you didn't know about LFC

Let's see if we can come up with some facts/stories/titbits of history that some of our less anoraked members won't be aware of.

    I'll start us off.

The Flagpole in the corner of The Kop was originally the top mast from the SS Great Eastern. We needed a flagpole - and the ship was in for wrecking - and the rest is 100 years (plus) of history.

Thread inspired by Flagpole Corners username.

we may never have got John Barnes if AC Milan had signed the right player. They wanted to sign the "black player" from Watford and ended up with Luther Blisset by mistake

Thankfully so as we were lucky enough to then have one of the best players in our history strut his stuff at Anfield

Sammy Lee was actually signed on the books for LFC after he arrived at Melwood having got the wrong bus to a Ken Dodd's Diddy Men audition. Bob Paisley was so impressed with Sammy's skills that he offered him a contract straight away.

There was a rather infamous homeless hostle in the east end of Glasgow called the Great Eastern.

I've heard that story several times. Urban myth?

LFC have (or at least used to have- it may have changed) the longest club name in England. The full title was Liverpool Football Club and Athletic Grounds Association.

Rick Parry has been cought on a picture without a tie.
Just believe and you never know what will happen.

According to Benitez it's important not simply to go out to win but to go out prepared to win, which means players have to put in the same level of work on a daily basis. Anything else is unacceptable.

"Tarzan Beef I" is an anagram for Rafa Benitez?
