Gerrard back in the middle?

Does anyone else have the feeling that Gerrard is gonna be playing allot more in the middle next season? With players like Alves, Simao, Maluda and Silva being linked we should not need to put him on the wing at all. So that makes me wonder if he is gonna have to play in a much more restricted way and be more tactically disciplined.

And can he do that? The main reason for him not playing in the middle is his lack of tactical discipline and if we are gonna have two top class wingers on each wing he has to go into midfield again.

And with players like Simao, Silva, Garcia and Tevez it is gonna be likely that they are gonna be more effective in the hole then Gerrard.

So could it be a problem fitting him into the team, especially against the best teams?

It is at least my opinion that Tevez would have been much better behind Kuyt in the final then Gerrard was, and we would probably have won.

And it seems to be the case that Rafa does not feel Gerrard is defensively disciplined enough to play in a two man midfield against the best.

So I guess my question is: If we sign Simao, Silva, Maluda and Tevez for example, are we gonna see Gerrard on the bench from time to time, with Masher and Xabi dominating the middle?

Gerrard has to play in the middle consistently (with the odd exception when absolutely necessary). I'll f*cking throttle Rafa meself if he doesn't sign the right players and play players in their right positions this coming season.

The beauty of Gerrard is that he can play in a number of positions and normally excels. Him and Mascherano played well in the middle against the chavs but him and Xabi formed a good partnership when Momo was out last season and I also thought that Xabi and Mascherano played well together in the CL final.

It's not a case of playing him in the middle with one other every match it's about selecting the right team for the right match.
