I actually am not looking forward to reading Bascombe's comments of late because I know alot of it is just negative. As much as he likes to think he knows, I don't think he knows as much as he thinks he does. He is just getting people worried by reading his articles.
I have no problem with him writing one article like this, but they all seem to be like reading the same article of late.

Benitez remains in close contact with club officials but while the Reds continue to be linked with stars such as Samuel Eto’o, there appears to be an ever growing gap between reality and fantasy.

At best he has probably been fed some **** by the club about not having much cash - and if I were the club I would do the same. Why would you want to advertise your millions?
