Near enough two weeks since the champs league final and not one sniff of a signing. Apart from the young finnish lads but sure they won't be first team next season.

I know that Alves is one footed and that he isn't that good defending.

Rafa would probably use him as a right winger so he doesn't need to defend as much as he do know.

More or less every time Alves plays as a right winger he dominates the game. No one knows how he will adjust to the PL if we sign him. That is the only problem IMO.

The reason to why Alves isn't playing as good in the latest games is probably because he has played almost all the games this season for Sevilla. He is tired and I can understand that. He works his socks off every minute in every game. That is his playing style. He runs and runs and then runs a little bit more.

a few points on the latest Bascombe article.

If you agree with him or not, Bascombe has very good links at the club. If he says we aint got much dosh then I'd say its pretty near the mark.

Can someone please explain to me how the club could use Bascombe to get us the players we want at a lower fee. Are people really saying that Benfica will sell Simao cheaper to us because Bascombe says we are skint. Not a chance. To be honest thats such a simplistic view its

Rafa wouldn't have spent 12million on Lucas if he knew there would be a limited budget to sign a striker and a couple of wingers

We all kid ourselves every season that we have a few bob to spend. Every season we never do have serious money. The reports Bascombe has come out with in the last week or so are making me think we are all kidding ourselves again this season.

Lets be fair here, IF Bascombe was saying all this as smoke and mirrors, who would be reading the Echo from Seville and Barcelona to see it? His reports are not sitting on the fence, they are coming across as pretty blunt to me!

Also wouldnt the smoke and mirrors have an adverse affect on the selling of players? Villa would see we are in need of money to complete deals so would hold out with just a £8million bid for Bellamy.
