Assuming Carson is off, our best bet is to just stick with Martin. Apparently he's pretty good and I doubt we would be able to get an experienced keeper to sign as second choice, while signing young keepers every year and loaning out (and eventually releasing) our previous young keeper is hardly progress.

We got Padelli on loan didnt we?? Did we finalize the deal yet? Anyway, we cant risk losing points in league just to let a keeper learn. He can learn away on loan while we get an experienced backup. If Carson goes to Fulham, we can ask for Niemi as part of the deal.

Niemi wouldnt do with sitting on the bench he's to good and would want to be a first team player not keep the bench warm

Talksport Radio with Ray Houghton 3-4 years ago. Caller phones in about the state of Scottish football and has an issue about the Scottish goalkeeper. He's clearly had a few to drink and is highly emotional getting quite upset.
He goes on to say he can't understand why Niemmi (he was GK for Hearts I think at the time) isn't playing for Scotland as he's the best keeper in the SPL.
