No way would they bring in some of the top architects aorund to come up with a stadium almost exactly the same as Anfield with a bigger kop only.
Would it be such a bad idea? Think about it, an almost exact replica of Anfield as it is with a bigger capacity & the option of increasing it.

To be honest, i would much prefer that than all these new modern stadiums. 4 tier stands are the way..

Surely that's the current Anfield with a bigger centenary stand?

Shame. i dont think there is anything wrong taking the basic Anfield design as the starting point for the new stadium. At least then we retain some link to the current Anfield plus we have a design that is unique to us. Got to be better than the generic **** desing we have now which looks a carbon copy of every other new stadium you've seen.

I dont want something that is unique and funky for the sake of it, I want something that truly embodies what Liverpool and Anfield is all about, and using the current Anfield design fits the bill.

Hear ya loud & clear fella... but personally speaking as an Architect the current layout of Anfield ie 4 main independant tiered stands looks really outdated - I'm all for a complete modern re-design but we definitely need to maintain the LFC'ness & not go down the generic St Marys route...

These guys at HKS know that....

You're the expert mate so I'll bow to your greater knowledge, but apart from the fact that it holds more people than the independent tiered stands, what is the benefit of having the bowl shape with no clear defined independent stands? I would have thought having 4 separate defined stands would create a better atmosphere.

There's loads wrong with the current Anfield design. The anny road end is nowhere near the size it would ideally be, because of the road behind. The main stand is crap and outdated. There's only the Kop and the Centenary that are suitable for a modern stadium.

The best design for the new ground would be a bigger Kop, with a Centenary style stand going all the way round the other three sides. Keep the Kop as a separate stand and then pack as many people as possible in the other three sides to watch us sing!

                  That is an incredible stadium

Fingers crossed we can come up with something as individual as that, sadly due to council contraints I doubt its possible.

Mainly aesthetics (I do think they look better, others don't)
Acoustically the sound is focused from all stands towards the centre circle so they should sound better
From a £££ point of view there's little difference

From what H&G are saying, I can see the new Kop being a huge uninterrupted stand with the inevitable executive & corporate boxes running in bands all the way around the rest of the stadium

I hope to God it looks nothing like the current plans which are nearly 7 years old & quite frankly looked ****e back then.

Acoustics are all in the roof design. If the roof is as low as possible and slopes downwards from the back of the stand then the sound is trapped and reverberates around the stand e.g. Millennium, Kop, lots of old terraces. If the roof is high and slopes upwards from the back of the stand then the sound escapes and even the loudest crowds sound quiet e.g. Twickenham, every identikit stadium such as pride park, middlesborough, etc.

Agreed. i cant believe the board ever accepted that design. So generic and soulless it's untrue. Choosing that design is grounds enough to sack Parry or the board if you ask me (assuming they had anything to do with it).

The board, Parry and Moores should be embarrassed that it has taken two Americans who know little about the traditions of our club to realise we deserve something much better than the ****e we've been fed so far with regards to the new stadium.

This is why I thought that with 4 separate tiered stands they would all have their own roofs and keep the sound in, whereas the with the bowl shape stadiums the roofs seems to be further back and not cover the whole stand.

Yes - which is why the plans are being resubmitted to the council late this month.
                            Oh I don't know.

The design is within the constrasints of the original plans tho, so there shouldn't be a great delay nothing like a few yrs, maybe a few weeks/months
