Gary my girlfriend is from Middlesbrough and I start work there in a few weeks time. I like the place actually and the surrounding areas like Yarm are lovely. Wouldn't stay too long in Southbank or Grangetown though.

I get it a lot from Bitters and Scums I know. They're vile, offensive and consistently make incendiary, slanderous remarks about us and our past. Athens and UEFA's cuntsmithery has sparked it all off again. I can't possibly let it go. Why should they be allowed to spout this ****e without being called in on it?

I absolutely launched into some "mates" yesterday...long long tirades, laced with facts, passionate defences of LFC and finally some fantastic insults. They ended up boo-hooing and taking their ball home, cos I'd insulted them.

They don't like it when the tables are turned. These cowards think it's fine to have an open season on LFC fans, but when you fire back with a passionate, balanced, yet at times aggressive response, they don't ****ing like it.

Stand up for LFC and your fellow Redmen and don't let the ignorant pricks win.

Would you care to share your tirades and facts so we can all use them in the future??? Sometimes I find that I blank at certain times but if you managed to do it then we all could !! Wooooo hoooo

I think there's a big difference between your situation and this one. The guy here is some faceless internet warrior who feels protected behind his computer screen. It would be pointless trying to reason/argue with him and you'd just be giving him the attention he's seeking.

Face-to-face is a different story. I find there are two approaches that work, both of which involve controlling your emotions...

1) If they insult you or LFC, return the insult and laugh at them. Don't get upset or angry as that's the reaction they want.

2) Treat them like an idiot. Ask them questions like "why do you think that?", etc - patronise them basically.

I agree that it's important to stand up to such idiots (why I was happy to see Hicks calling Gaylord a "clown" [combination of the above two approaches]) but I do think you lose the battle in such situations once you lose your cool.

Try one of the above next time these "mates" have a go - I find the first one pretty effective. It's also amusing watching them get all worked up!

I am a member of a website which is the home of the dubbed tintin videos. There is a forum within this site.
In one of the threads, titled Champions League Final, A little knobhead called yarmnthat has been continuously speaking about hillsborough and the 96 fans that died, making horible remarks. I have answered him back a bit and am just being told by all of the boro fans on there to stop taking the bait.
I dont see it as taking the bait as we need to speak up against these ****s.

I am asking for people to sign up to the site and start answering this dickhead back, making him realise he cannot speak like he has been and to try and force the little prick to shut up.
