Anyone old enough to remember when Moores took over?

Just wondering how he was perceived at the time - was he a Morgan type figure, trying to force his way into control or was it more subtle?

I wasnt interested in that level of the club at the time so have no idea about the history - could someone please enlighten me?

from what I remember it was done fairly quietly and just came in as another member of the Moores family. No real opinion of him nor his predecessor Noel White

      That's about right.

I will say that Noel White was a real disappointment as chairman. I think he could have done more with the Dalglish situation. He also made a fool of himself on some FA committees if I remember correctly.

Sir John Smith as Chairman and Peter Robinson as Chief Executive were superb for Liverpool and were as good as you can probably get. Different era I know but all the same......

Noel White was as much of a joke as his best mate Swales at Man City , he was a perennial committee member so you know he's a no-mark.

To be honest when Moores took over , I was glad to put a name to a face because I'd always wondered how that scruffy **** always got boss seats for all the games and managed to be wherever the cups where lifted.

As far as I recall, it was a bloodless coup of sorts. Noel White had succeeded John Smith, who was an excellent chairman. I believe White came to us from non-league Altrincham, which is a bit bizarre!

Anyway, Moores underwrote the extension of the Kemlyn Rd stand to what is now the Centenary Stand to the tune of around £12m I believe, and got various shares through doing so, making him the majority shareholder.

No-one really had a view on Moores excep that, as a local lad and a fan, it was preferable to having a businessman from non-league football at the helm. At least that's how I remember it.

I'm too old to remember it.
                .
Suppose you have a physicist and a sociologist standing at the side of a field, observing a set of events unfolding on the field. The physicist does [describes] it using the terminology of mass and velocity and frequency of radiation and the rest. And the sociologist does it by describing it as a rugby match.

May the Lord bless this post.

I remember when he took over. It was just after when Graeme Souness became manager. There was a bit of publicity at the time but not a great deal. The board pretty much stayed the same, Peter Robinson was still there, it was just the chairman that changed. I remember thinking that Moores looked a bit absurd. He used to wear one of those two-tone jackets, had long hair and a big moustache.

He was basically brought in because the board didn't have a great deal of money, we needed to rebuild the team and to put seats on the Kop. Moores was a fan and part of the only family on Merseyside who had any decent amount of money so it made sense.

I was pleased when Moores arrived as it meant more money for the team and the stadium. It wasn't a particularly high profile thing as I remember, but then football in those days wasn't subject to as much coverage or hype as it gets now.
