    Peter Crouch

sorry if this belongs in another thread but i just want go get to the bottom of this, why did every one think he had a great game?

he scored and i'm happy with that, but i tought he had a poor game, his distubution was not on par, he didn't connect with garcia (both of their faults) was way to slow, and like always conceding fouls in the box where he shouldn't...

strikers are suposed to score, and he did so i'm happy with that but not his allaround game, people say that he brings so much more to the table (inc. me) but he didn't to day imo...

    am i the only one?

My only gripe is I wish he would be more physical, but at this stage that will prob never happen, so I'm happy with what he brings to the table, he makes defenders work all the time, so much so they were fouling him on the half way line to stop him!

His dietician should beef him up on whatever it takes (legally of course!), it would be great to see him banging in headers with some force into any corner of the onion bag from the crosses that are about to come his way with true left & right wingers, it's going to be good seeing him & Kuyt up front together when the needs merit it, it's going to take 3 or 4 defenders to keep them out, more space for other players

Useless when he's alone up front. Exactely what i predicted. We're through and thats all that matters...

He does bring something to the team, but his lack of pace and strength really frustrates me at times - because it causes plenty of attacking moves to break down.
Put it this way - i'm looking forward to seeing Kuyt and Bellamy play upfront together.

I thought he was really good last night
I think it's a foul, and if the ref gives it. He got to give a penalty. I know it's outside the box, but you see them given that close to the area. So if the ref gives it he's got to give the penalty as it so close to the area. But I think it's a penalty. Robbie Savage 8/11/06

it just pisses me of thet for a big man, his lack of physical presence and he's poor header of the ball, and also i think he lacks positioning sense...

thats how he played last night at least imo...

I think a lot of people know I'm not a Crouch fan, but I find it hard to find fault in what he did last night.

I think he linked up well with the rest of them, he'd have had an assist were it not for Garcia missing a good chance. He worked hard throughout, he was poor late on in the game but I put it down to the fact that he was knackered.

The most important thing is he got a good chance and he put it away. That's the one thing he failed to do with anything resembling consistency.

I actually thought that Crouch had one of his poorer games! He seemed to lose the ball more than normal and didn't seem very effective!

I think he picked up a knock on his lower back towards the end of the game which seemed to effect his mobility.

Nice to see you giving credit where it's due. The Crouch detractors' biggest gripe seems to be his lack of goals. Well, he's scoring regularly at the moment so I don't see how anyone could have the knives out for him currently.

I reckon Kuyt's arrival and the competition for places will do wonders for Crouchie. A few of you seem to think he'll barely play now, but I don't see it that way.
Thanks very much for being ‘This Mornings’ Farmer’

Well I think he'll play less since the arrival of Kuyt and Bellamy, he only played so much last season because Cisse was muck up front in the beginning and Morientes ... well he was just muck all the time.

If he wants to play a lot he'll have to keep scoring, just put away the straightforward chances and everybody will be happy. I don't expect Crouch to score wonder goals, just any old goals will do.

I wasn't impressed with him last night but it's probably one of the few times that I've felt like that about him. Hopefully as the season progresses he will improve. If he doesn't then he has another 3 strikers waiting to take his place.
