theres no way masch will leave us, A) we backed him when his career could so easily have gone down the pan & B) even if he was 40mill we have the backing in place to secure that purchase. Of course all of this is dependant on whether Rafa wants him long term - maybe rafa thought Masch would be a cheap option for 18 months when Momo found his feet, lets not forget Rafa rates Momo very highly indeed. Just a thought.
If it came to it id prefer to sell Xabi out of all those players.

I'll be massively disappointed if we can't keep Masch. As much as I like Momo, Masch is simply a better player at the same age. I think he is already close to, and will in all likelihood reach, the level of a Makelele or Gattuso in terms of holding midfielders, which I believe any truly contending side needs.Originally posted by Darth Marty View Posttheres no way masch will leave us, A) we backed him when his career could so easily have gone down the pan & B) even if he was 40mill we have the backing in place to secure that purchase. You're reading too much into it.
- Carra would stay at the club no matter what.
- Gerrard seems to have decided to stay here for life also.
- Finnan... well, where else is he going to go really?
- Reina... the only job going in Spain might be at Valencia and we've performed better than them in recent years.
The only question mark was Alonso and he's always said that he loves the city, the club, the fans and so forth. The fact that he's signed on is positive, but it might just be down to him receiving assurances regarding his place in the side.

valdez is a poof, a poor keeper, makes a few good saves but does more harm than good, i hope reports from argentina are true, that they are trying to bring in ustari, he's a class or two above valdez...Originally posted by tomasjj View PostReina is more than capable of replacing Valdez at Barca imo."I have decided to escape, to defy the shogun. Carragher and Finnan would have signed anyway.
Gerrard would have asked questions about future signings, as a captain it's his duty. If he thought we were not going to be competitive in the title race he could have stalled and got his agent to put him on the market in an underhanded way.
Reina could have stalled on his contract talks to see what he was worth and to whom.Did you see the size off those chickens?
