    Is this possible

I have just read about an interesting link up between Gloucester RFC and Moseley RFC (see link) and wondered if it was possible to set up something similar, following Rafa's complaints about reserve/youth development.

As far as i'm aware there are rules which prevent this happening in football. It's a great idea but there would be arguments against it from smaller clubs. The whole promotion situation being differant in rugby etc.

Dual registration? mmmm, may be something in that I guess, to be honest I know that the existing structure is pretty poor but I havent really seen an answer as yet that really says "yeah...that will work".

Dual registration is similar to the Co-ownership in Italy. However FIFA rules I think say that a player can only be registered to play for one club at a time, even if they are on both clubs books.

In Italy they nominate in co-ownership which club the player will play for in one season, this club holds the registration, but any sale of the player needs to go through both clubs.

Plus one club has the option to buy out the other half of the player and transfer the registration. Usually happens with players who are up and coming through a small club, a bigger club buys half of him and lets them play there, if they are good enough they pay the rest. It's like a deposit in a way. The co ownership contract is time linked as well, so when it basically expires the clubs have an auction for his services in effect.

If it happens in Italy what LEGAL reason is there to stop it happening here then?

Surely any employment laws in Italy and England are the same?

There are many cases of co-ownership. Eto'o was owned by both Real Madrid and Mallorca when Barca bought him. Adriano was co-owned by both Inter and Parma.

Owned by Chelsea and loaned to PSV, I think; the idea being that he can gain EU nationality faster under Dutch law, before moving to Chelsea.
