    Absolutley.

Its not popular to say it - But i thought the biggest prima donna act in football in recent years was Rafa the mrning after Athens. I know the hotel situation, result etc. but the Liverpool way keeps internal disputes inhouse.

You could not imagine Kenny whinging like it - let alone Shanks, Paisley or Fagan. Come to think Souness would have had more dignity the morning after a defeat.

Im tired hearing our manager communicating with the board through the press. Its not the way things were or should be done at our club. Liverpool will be there after Rafa and I also think he should bugger back to Spain if being manager of Liverpool is not satisfying enough. Its almost as though he wants to win CL to satify his ego rather than improve Liverpool.

Im gonna get slated - but I hate the bitchin..

I think the loss really hurt him(as well as us), i'm sure he really felt we could win it for the 2nd time. Prima donna i don't know about bad loser 'for sure'

But i totally agree with most of the views on this thread, no way is a footballer worth £50k-£120k a week, thats more than doctors and teachers and even the feckin prim minister earns and for what? kicking a mock pig skin ball around?
      We come not to play.

I wont slate you for it, I agree with it.

As much as I rate Rafa there are things that are done in a certain way . As we are under new ownership those ways are probably on the way out, sadly to say.

There used to be a time when the manager or the players would stand up and take responsibility for a defeat in a gracious manner

Come on Archie, im not looking to slaughter anybody mate but that is a little too far dont you think? "I also think he should bugger back to Spain if being manager of Liverpool is not satisfying enough"
He is frustrated in his job and quite rightly imo.

If you were a mechanic(you may well be) and you turn up for your new job with all your tools and all your experience and were promised that "Yes Archie, sometime in the near future we are looking to buy a ramp so we dont have to crawl on our backs to fit an exhaust" then 12 months later, still no ramp, so you sit patiently for another year and work with the best you got for another 12 months. then suddenly Mr Bobby Bollix is selling his company to ATS who have a wealth of experience with repairs and have bottomless pockets and want to expand the garage to nearly twice the size, you would start thinking ; WOW, were actually gonna get somewere and i can finally teach these young apprentices to work under a ramp. All is looking well. MR ****head from ATS head office is saying all the right things and everybody is happy, the garage has been aprroved of a new site which is twice the size then WHAM - the time has finnaly come to get that new ramp and what happens? Mr ****head says he can longer afford the descent ramp that would be good for the next 10 years but you will have to do with the one that will do you for 6months. Would you be a bit pissed off and want to move on or even rip into the new owners who promised you everything and sold you a ****in lemon or would you sit back happily whistling saying "everything is hunky dory"

**** sorry for the essay. Got a little carried away.

Archie and Jim, i think its a little unfair to say that Rafa should bassically put up or shut up.
Can you imagine Mourinho or Fergie having to sell to buy? Or having to get by on a shoestring and be expected by the fans and the board to deliver trophys with, lets be honest, besides Crouchie, a mediocre strikeforce and mediocre wingers.

Bit of a difference from Mourinho and Fergie though. The Russian has spent big chunks of his own money (and many might argue ill gotten money) to spend on a personal toy. How long he remains intrested in his toy remains to be seen, it is clear there are problems there with Schevchenko and Ballack, and even now with Lampard and Terry stalling over contract talks. No one will be able to compete with them on financial terms.

Fergie is/was sitting on a cash cow at Old Trafford with its capacity. The Scum were also an example of how a club should be marketed, look at the size of the sponsorship deals and TV rights.

Having a bigger capacity stadium will help us for sure, hopefully Gilette and Hicks wil get the marketing side right.

I am disappointed in Rafa because of the way he is conducting himself. LFC always kept everything in house, if there was a problem it was discussed and sorted in the boardroom or the boot room, not in the media. Now I know the media play a huge part in everything by turning everything in to a drama and speculating about every twist and turn but it still remains that something need to be said directly to the boss instead of thinly veiled threats through the media.

If I had just borrowed the thick end of 300 million and had the coach bad mouthing me in public then he would have been out the door and down the street.

Yeah, tbh, it was very un-rafa to air his laundry in public.
And i also long for the football of yesteryear, but it wont EVER be like it was when i was growig up in the 80s or when you grew up watching them, so we have to sit back and accept that this is the way football is nowadays.
When we grew up watchin it we didnt have to pay the 40+ notes a month for SKy then another £12 if sky do there usual and stick only utd or chav games on. We got it on BBC and ITV and the build up was proper. Not like that hairy ****er Keys slagging us to peices or Gray with his ussual Pro Utd and Anti LFC ****e.

Todays football isn't about a bunch of blokes having a few at lunchtime then wandering down to the ground to see the local team on a saturday afternoon, now with the popularity and media coverage of the game there is more and more of your general interest fan types and football has lost some of its elitist (not quite the right word I know but best i could think of) fans.
This isnt some OOT rant btw just the way I see the game changing.

I understand where your coming from with the mechanic thing HOWEVER - Liverpool are my abiding passion outside my wife and son. It is my club, a sense of pride, joy, it is host to a lot of the dreams and aspirations I have had and continue to have in life.

Pride is a key word. Pride in the Liverpool way. Rafa has not acted in the Liverpool way communicating with his board through the press. As bad as Parry is - deal with it like properly and internally. If the baord / Parry are so poor either resign and tell it how it is or continue to do the job to the best of your ability cause the club means as much to you as it does to me..

If to take the mechanic anology further then I can conclude that for Rafa

1 ) if it is just a job - then cut out the how special the fans are, Montse said you have to win it for fans etc. because your taking the piss with us

                    or

                    2) if it is more than a job and you feel what we feel - then uphold our traditions and what makes us great.

for me the livepool way of John Smith, Bob Paisley and Kenny Dalglish are as important to our heritage and way as "youll never walk alone" or the Kop.

I think its 2 and Rafa is a believer... but he will never be a ledgend until he acts like one.

Too many things have changed in life for the 'old days' to return. Players wages/power is the biggest thing and will continue to spiral unless clubs and FA's agree to wage caps.

As for Rafa airing his views in public not being the Liverpool way, welcome to news 24/7 and the media barage we get. The guy was obviously gutted at losing the final and was fuming, i'm sure Mourihno or Fergiscum would of been the same/worse in a similar situation.

Bluff, old-fashioned, Northern managers with flat caps and whippets... you're not suggesting we should have got Big Sam Allardyce in, are you Jim?

I long for the old days when we won the league every year. I'd like to get those days back. Somehow, I've never got used to the idea of other teams winning it. Its just plain wrong.
I'm playing all the right notes. Not necessarily in the right order. I'll give you that, sunshine.

Gotta say I love Rafa but would give him up in a heartbeat for a Shanks or Paisley.
I love Liverpool, but football is **** to what it used to be.......

                              when we were winning?

To be fair to Rafa, Id rather he spoke his mind than kept quiet and pretended everything was sweetness and light.

Everyone loved Strachan on MOTD when his team played **** because he came out and admitted it. He spoke honestly. How many times did or has Rafa been slated for saying we played great when really we all know we were ****?

All I want from the footballers is graft, all I want from the manager is honesty. Cant ask for more than that.
