    Reminder.....What Rafa HAS said...

"For me it is not a question of money, this is a project with my team and my club with the supporters behind us, and I am really happy with all those things together. As I said after the meeting with the American owners, I think we are going in the right direction. Everything is okay for me here. It isn't easy to find a club (like Liverpool) where all the supporters, or at least the majority of them, are behind you and you have a good staff and good players and the future can be brilliant. That is the most important thing to me. The owners knew the situation when we were talking, and I'd said before that I am really pleased here, and for me that's it. The atmosphere here in Liverpool is fantastic. You know that at this club you can work and improve. For me, the future looks brighter here than anywhere else."

    17. April.

"Rick Parry and I had a good meeting when we spoke to the owners and we all agreed what's important is for everyone to work together to do the right things for the club.

"That means changing the structure of the club and spending money on players, both young players and players who will go straight into the team. We have not talked about budgets, but I know the owners are backing me. That's what's important and now is a time for us to be positive.

"It's not just about buying players who might be more expensive but getting players for the right price."

    30. May.

I think that is the last time I saw direct quotes from Rafa regarding the economic situation at the club. I go by what Rafa says, not what journos write without quotes.

As far as I can see it Rafa and G&T are singing from the same hymn sheet - they don't want him to spend "like a drunken sailor" and he seems to be very cautious about splashing the cash.

But, I have no doubt he would spend big for the right player, and he will be backed by G&T.

Thank you for that, I'd stopped looking at the forums because all the doom and gloom was getting me seriously worried. I only have to worry about Red Hot's health now.

David Villa will join and everybody will calm down.

A bit of reasonable, not over blown cheer. Much appreciated.

Aye, we SHOULD all know by now how Rafa works.

He will not spend large amounts of money on players, he don't work that way.

I think Rafa likes the challenge of spending as little as he can and still win, not the oh dear my right back has not played well for 2 games better go spend 30mill on another one.

I think he likes unearthing stars of the future and spending money shrewdly. But there is absolutely no way he likes the "challenge" of having to compete with our rivals with no money. It will be the reason he walks, if it comes to that.

Maybe it's Eto'o and not Villa. I know you're keeping tabs on me
