    Xabi The Future Today

Just thought i would fire up a thread about this incredible player. In his short time at this special club he has done some special things, from his his genius like passes or his out of this world goals, Try do it twice Beckham ! Hes a grafter, he comes from a football family and looks like a mans man to me.

He has taken his medicine with very good grace last season and quite honestly I can see him as the next captain of our beloved club. Tough, intelligent, committed, skillful, creative and a no nonsense kind of guy

I know he has a tough season, in my eyes his role changed from play maker to midfield commander but hes one of the best players I have ever seen.

    ALL HAIL XABI !!

    ALONSO WON'T BITE FOR BARCA
    By David Maddock 14/06/2007

XABI ALONSO has revealed he snubbed the advances of Barcelona because he believes Liverpool are on the verge of greatness.

Barca were ready to offer the Spain midfielder a huge contract but instead he signed a new five-year deal at Anfield despite often being on the bench towards the end of last season.

He said: "There was interest from big clubs but I want to be part of what lies ahead as I know it's going to be incredibly exciting."

Hicks & Gillett sold him bollocks.

Xabi Alonso is the classiest footballer Liverpool has had in many years.

If he can add goals to his game I don't think there will be a better midfielder around.

I think he is overrated. Great passer, neat and not afraid to get stuck in. But he's sluggish off the mark and once anyone gets passed him it's "Hasta la vista"

He gets more tackles in than anyone else and is our best passer. Those two things alone are worth having him in the team for.
