Why has Eto'o got a white chest?

The problem with that interview is that in one fell swoop he could have dismissed the rumours doing the rounds simply by reiterating that rafa will be given the money he needs for the targets he wants. Instead we get some mealy-mouthed spin about “player-specific and situation-specific”. Can anyone actually tell me what that's supposed to mean?

A nice bit of PR but reading between the lines it does seem to lend credence to at least, the rumours over disagreements between the two (G+H).

He can't say Rafa's got £35m for Eto'o. Doesn't make sense. We'd be held to ransom by every other club then. Let's give the guys a break and start ignoring idle speculation

Great point Tom George needed Tom to get the deal. Do you think Tom would have invested without a business case outlining return on investment.

The question I have is whether their model of return on investment = status quo or big player investment.

You're right, and I've been skeptical as soon as they've started to spout hyperboles to the journos. There's clearly a problem, as news of Rafa going for the Benayoun's and the Bent's, after the highs of Malouda's, Eto'o etc ... is adding up.

I remember the days after we've done the treble, we failed to kick on after that, and the rest is history. If indeed we're targetting the Bent's and the Benayoun's, then I feel that history will repeat itself. I can't see Rafa being content with that philosophy.

I think we all need to calm down and wait to see who we sign. Lets face it the majority of our signings will be from spain as thats the market Rafa knows best. Seen as the transfer market in spain wont open until after the final league games tommorow i dont see why everyone is so worried.

Also if we are trying to sign big name players like eto'o i'd rather we didn't read about it in the papers and just went discreetly about it behind the scenes.

No selling club will allow you to "discreetly" sign a top player - they will want an auction.

"We are pleased with Rafa and his strategy. It's not dissimilar to what he outlined to us in February. His belief is to look for players with the proper chemistry to enhance the team. We support Rafa. He has a programme under way and, as that unfolds, that will be the time for us to be judged, not now."

I don't care if Gillett and Hicks have fallen out or not. We don't know what's going on behind the scenes except what's been written in the papers.

Let's just chill with the criticism of the new owners and judge them on their transfer dealings at the end of August

I've read the article twice now and that is the point which sticks out like a sore thumb.

He's also playing a game with reference to United's average spending. I don't know the figures but based on a Net outlay, surely we can't be anywhere near United or Chelski?

I'm not impressed by that interview - I'd rather hear from Hicks.

I wonder why the journalist didn't tell him that United's already team contained Rio £31M, Rooney £28, Ronaldo £12M etc.

So what would you rather him do, not be interviewed, like the Glazers??
I've heard nothing yet to dampen my trust in them to be honest.
