Signing La Liga Players? Burnout before new Season

Pre-season is roughly 3 weeks away for us with the 1st match scheduled for in 4 weeks time. With La liga coming to an end official tonight, that leaves any La liga player wishing to join a premiership club with viturally 2 weeks holiday and rest.

Rafa has stated previously that he wishes to get all his players new & old together so he can get the players to gel & bond in advance to the 1st premiership game and have a better understanding right from the get go. In pervious seasons Rafa has brought in players within days of the transfer deadline. Therfore many a-times the new players fail to settle in when the season is in full swing.

The question is not about signing players now. But signing players from La Liga who have just finished a long-season on the back of a World cup year (last year) with 3 weeks rest, then playing in the fastest league in the world. Will they be upto it right from the start?

No worries mate. Rafa knows how to rotate players based on their fitness levels.

If we buy any la ligarettes they'll probably get extended breaks, and travel to the Hong Kong tourney.

La Liga has a winter break doesn't it? If so they would not have been playing a whole season straight, so hopefully won't be too tired

of course they will - Rafa is no amateur manager - he pays particular attention to fitness levels.

              Anyway, it was Rochdale reserves.'

The La Liga players will be grand. I see no problems they can start pre season training late and have enough match practice in the The Rotterdam Tournament and Colchester United

Still got the cup final to play aswell, which adds to the point you make.

Very good and valid question, but I think if Rafa gets them signed quickly enough and brings them a week or so after our lads get back this shouldn't be a problem, also Rafa will rotate a couple of them at the start to bed them in.

It is somewhat of a joke that Spain carries on for so long. Esp as they only have 38 games and have a pre season break!
