On top of this dont forget how Warnock blamed us for one of the reasons they got relegated in the first place! (Gerrard's dive on the opening day of the season). They are a scummy club, not one we should be looking to help out at all, let them rot in the Nationwide

If West Ham do stay up and IF they have any say in who Tevez goes to surely Parry as a witness against them could make them reluctant to sell to us.

Yep, I hope we don't want any of West Ham's players anytime soon.

Parry is probably only a material witness in any case
            Is the correct answer

I really hope he's impartial in all of this and been called up as an independent witness and not as a witness for Sheff Utd, because there is no way we should be involved in a dispute between two clubs which essentially has nothing to do with us.
              Is the correct answer.

There'd better be something seriously worthwhile in it for us...

I'm hoping he was called only because he had a role in a deal involving one of the players investigated, and not because he volunteered or offered on behalf of Sheff Utd.

I assumed it was obviously because of his familiarity with Maschers transfer situation, having had to disect it to sign him. It would seem perfectly sensible to ask him to comment.

Parry was called up because he was head of the Premiership when the rules were drawn up and he would have had final say on how the wording would appear.

He is also being questioned on the Mascherano deal because he would have done the most digging and investigating to find the nuances of Masher's (and therefore Tevez's) contract with West Ham.

There is no suggestion that Liverpool, as a premiership team, are backing Sheffied United in this case.

Guys you make fair points but on the BBC website when they originally reported it they reported it as Parry being there in support of Sheff Utd. They've subsequently changed that to this, which certainly reflects your posts more:-

Liverpool chief executive Rick Parry appeared at the arbitration tribunal on Monday.

He first drew attention to the rule breaches when Liverpool signed Mascherano from West Ham in the January transfer window.

Questioned as to whether Parry's appearance as a witness was due to Liverpool's signing of Javier Mascherano from West Ham, McCabe added: "Not particularly. Rick is an experienced football guy. He's a good witness."
