    Jay Spearing

    from the Offal:

Jay Spearing was named player of the tournament as Liverpool's youngsters reached the semi-finals of the annual Torneo di Renate in Milan.
Spearing, who has just been promoted to Melwood after captaining the Youth Cup winning side, excelled in midfield against the likes of Torino, AC Milan and Renate before the Reds were knocked out by Parma on penalties.

The tournament is for under-20s, with Gary Ablett and Hughie McAuley taking a mixture of reserves and Academy starlets.

Inter were the eventual winners, while Liverpool once again beat Renate 3-0 to finish third.

I remember Stevie Heighway saying "this lad could play in the first team right now" after we beat Man Utd in the youth cup final.

He must have something about him, surely ?

Yeah but right now he's about 942nd choice in the center of midfield.

Maybe he has more chance at the back?

More like the new Jamie Carragher.According to people who watch the reserves regularly, what he lacks in talent he makes up in attitude. Great Captain who organises things on the pitch, very vocal and gets stuck in. I remember in one of the people who watched the reserves mentioning everybody starts playing better when Jay Spearing is on the pitch.

Pity Rafa has never given him a chance.

I doubt he'll ever play for the first team to be honest, he's already 20 years old.

He's too small to play at the back.

I don't think so, he gets forward really well. Based on all the descriptions I've heard he seems more like a Lucas type of player.

I really hope we adopt the 7 substitue thing that Rafa was championing as I think that would give him a chance of getting valuable first team minutes.

Hi,I went to wrexham to see the reserves against the scum on the 19 of april and the only player that really caught my eye was Jay Spearing,he was by far the best player on the pitch,he had total controll on everything he did with or without the ball,he deserves his chance at melwood and I hope he comes out as another great player that we will enjoy watching for many years to come

why has this come out now, tournament was a few weeks ago.
he has a chance as rb or possibly defensive mf. he's a good little player albeit a bit small.
Parry is a clown. En Rafa que confiamos
