formation for next season, any ideas??

ok **** talking about who were getting in for now. does anyone else believe we could be more creative if we played 3-5-2 ???

in an ideal world i would like to see this side if all goes well in the transfer market.

look it more than likely wont happen but sure there it is, i know we have kuyt in there too, but this does look an attacking team that would score goals, three solid defenders, solid in the middle, good wingers (apparantly) steve supportins two players with good pace, we would score goals

I think 3-5-2 is a very limited formation, for reasons I have detailed before, for example in this thread.

I think we will play some variant of 4-4-2 most likely using 4-2-3-1 or 4-2-2-2 basis with two deep lying midfielders. The main differences I can see is that we might have our wide players more advanced and supporting the striker. Possibly swithing to a Chelsea-esque 4-3-3/4-1-2-2-1 type formation some games to allow Gerrard + 2 in the middle.

We will never have a set formation. We will rotate and have a number of 'possibilities' judging on who we are playing

Our formation will predominantly be 4-4-2 but Rafa changes formations depending upon opposition. I think the important thing to discuss is whether Gerrard will be playing on the right next season or in the centre.

I think he'll change the formation according to the opposition. Which sounds like a 'plan' when you say it out loud but in reality it merely means making a simple game 'complicated'.

We'll see Gerrard played out wide or off the front more often than in the middle. He'll try and fit in two holding players from Alonso, Momo & the Argie. The strikers will be rotated around on a regular basis thus enabling them never to get in the 'groove' or feel like what they do on the pitch has any affect on whether they'll play next week.

The players will be fresh mind come the end of the season. Thats always important.

At the end of the day no matter who we sign or don't sign we'll never get close to winning the league unless Rafa changes his mindset away from home. Its no good not getting beat, the bars been raised. You need to attack teams. When we play Utd away we need to be prepared to lose 4-0 if it means we had a go instead of the lame way its been recently.

I hope Rafa can change but I'm not sure.

There'll be those that say 'but for that bad run of away games last season' bollocks. West Ham & Blackburn at home spring to mind as home games we got lucky in. Our home form wasn't always as good as the results suggest.

One other point, how confident would everyone be in Rafa if the 3 penalty shoot outs hadn't gone our way?? But for the grace of....

Just believe and you never know what will happen.

According to Benitez it's important not simply to go out to win but to go out prepared to win, which means players have to put in the same level of work on a daily basis. Anything else is unacceptable.

I'm sure it will change from game to game, but I see it as predominantly 442(4411) and 352 maybe five or six times.

I would like to see more 4231 but we have too many strikers for that to be realistic and TBH we don't have enough flair players for the 3.
