      Forbes Methodology

      Revenues and operating income are for the 2005 to 2006 season and converted into U.S. dollars based on June 30, 2006, exchange rates.

      Current values are Forbes estimates based on past transactions, enterprise values (market value plus debt) of publicly traded teams and current stadium deal (unless a new stadium is pending).

      Debt includes stadium debt.

      Current income is earnings before interest, taxes, depreciation and amortization.

      The G14 is a business association to advance the interests of 18 leading European football clubs.

      In the print version ("The Most Valuable Soccer Teams", Forbes, April 16), Robert Louis-Dreyfus should have been listed as the owner of Olympique Marseille instead of Jack Kachkar. The deal for Kachkar to buy the team fell through as the magazine was preparing to go to press.

      We list Eggert Magnusson as the owner of West Ham United because the purchase agreement for West Ham states that WH Holding, which bought West Ham, is controlled by Eggert Magnusson.

      Liverpool’s debt is $81.7 million as of December 2006, which equates to a debt/value of 18%.

            I'll bet Rick and the Yanks do. Mind you if it's based on last years figures then maybe we'll be back in there next year

            Would I have got married during the football season ?
            Anyway, it was Rochdale reserves.'

                      most valuble? that a bit vague, what are their criteria. it surely cant be based on success or player value, but just on assets which is bollocks.

                            I bet it's turnover based i.e. revenues from tickets, shirts and trophies (and other marketing)

                            Goes to show what a sleeping (ish) giant we are.

                            We won't match Arsenal/Chavski ticket prices but there's no reason why we shouldn't be matching Man U's turnover

                                Surely this cant be based on Net Worth

                                Manchester United = £600 million + in debt

                                Arsenal = £400 million + in debt.

                                Chelski = £80 million loss / year

                                Must be turnover only
