It's unreal. You can guarantee Svennis will turn up within minutes of a Riise thread being started. Every time.

I empathise though - I'm not JAR's biggest fan either.

I think he is somewhat underrated. He has contributed a lot of goals and does offer a threat down the left, he does a good solid job for us. Yes I can see he has his limitations, but so do Carra, Agger and Finnan. He is not the best LB in the world, but he has been consistent for us. Until we have the money to buy say lahm or Zambrotta or is Insua/Aurreilo oust him he is the better than most out there.
Also he didnt win the UEFA cup with us.

Yeah, it was the season after when he joined. Remember he went back to Monaco in one of his first games in the Euro supercup final V B.Munich.

Agree Riise aint the best, but he hasn't been our worst player by a longshot.

I won't be surprised if we sell him. He hasn't been offered a new deal yet and he only has two years left on his current deal.

Insua played very good the games he played in the league last season. Excellent signing by Rafa and will probably play more and more next season just like Agger did last season.

Riise's real weakness is that he dives in too early and invariably doesn't get the ball, giving the player an easy route by him.

BTW Agger has learned to compensate and provides good cover. Another one of Agger's qualities that is often overlooked.

Have to disagree on Evra and Bridge straight away, and nothing about Cole have ever impressed me greatly, he never scores and can't say i've ever seen mark a player out of a game

Aurelio is better and probably also Insua but we will have to wait and see about that one next season.

Well it would be a boring and uneducated world if everyone agreed with me

In my opinion though Cole is the best left back in the world. And on the international stage when it counts I've yet to see a player get the better of him.

Based on his form this season he isn't even better than Bridge.

Let alone players like Maldini, Zambrotta (when he plays there) etc etc.

Cole hasn't been at his best but neither have the other usual suspects like Zambrotta and Lahm. If we could have any LB I would take Cole.

Bridge doesn't play regularly and Heinze was awful last season.
