    Shearer fires Bellamy broadside

Always wanted to write a headline like that.

Former Newcastle captain Alan Shearer has urged his club not to bring Wales striker Craig Bellamy back to St James' Park.

Bellamy, who had a disappointing first season with Liverpool and has been tipped to leave Anfield, has been linked with a return to Newcastle, where he and Shearer once formed a strike pairing.

Shearer was not impressed by Bellamy's exit from the club following a bust-up with manager Graeme Souness, and the former England striker admits he was stunned to discover new Magpies boss Sam Allardyce might be interested. He said: "Has no-one learnt their lesson about signing Craig Bellamy?"

He added: "If only (Liverpool boss) Rafa Benitez had rung me I would have told him exactly what he was like. I hope there isn't anything in (the Newcastle reports).

"I was having a few days away in France with (former Newcastle team-mates) Gary Speed and Steve Harper and the wives and I picked up the newspaper. I was having a fantastic day.

"But when I read Bellamy for Newcastle I thought I would definitely have to have another drink. I had several."
Thanks very much for being ‘This Mornings’ Farmer’

                  Bollox mate.

Shearer's was a truely brilliant player and Bellamy isn't fit to lace his boots.

As a person, shearer seems to be a really decent bloke and I've never heard anyone say anyhting bad about him.
Bellamy on the other hand is a ****** of the highest order.

I'm never sure about Shearer. Great player, certainly, but he did stretch the rules a lot, he put himself about a bit on the pitch.

Was it Neil Lennon who was a victim of Shearer stretching the rules?

Anyway, I like the way he ****ed the Mancs off several times

Great player but Craig Bellamy did extend his career by another 2 years by doing all the running for him. Without Bellamy i think Shearer would have retired earlier.

He has to much say in what goes on at Newcastle. He should have any unless he's the manager
