now that momo is out for a couple of weeks at least, we are a bit short in CM. Currently we only have Xabi, Stevie, & Zenden who is fit to play. We all know Xabi & Stevie cant really play in CM together without a defensive midfielder like Sissoko. Zenden is clearly not the greatest tackler - so we have nobody left.

So how about signing Gravesen? i know he used to play for the toffees but he is on sale for a cut down price and i personally think he will bolster our mdfield.

Madrid bought him as they thought he could do the job but he just not the same player.

We don't need him, stevie can go in the middle and play with 2 out and out wingers, if beneitez sigs anyone int he midfield it will be a youngster

am I right in saying that after saturdays game then we don't play for 2 weeks anyway? If Momo is out for 2 weeks then he only misses one game

As stated Graveson is not a holding/defensive midfielder. Personally think that Zenden will do a job for us once he gets back to form, remember he was out for 7-8 months with a knee injury but before that i felt he had shown some positive signs for us, especially in the centre of midfield where he prefers to play. If we sign a midfielder i would prefer us to sign a promising youngster.

I think this could work in our favour old boy. Alonso & Gerrard in the middle with two wide players. It solves the problem of playing all three. There's no reason why especially at home we can't play Gerrard & Alonso together in the centre.

I just hope we start holding the ball better. Our ball retention is poorer than the other 3 in my opinion. Utd & Arsenal make the ball do the work. Tuesday night was a case in point, too often the ball is just kicked away.

i agree. stevie and xabi can play together in the middle. anything to the contrary is a myth. xabi is the more defensive. while stevie starts the attacks.

its not like the england saga where lampard cant/wont tackle, track back, do anything useful besides shoot from distance.

personally i would like stevie n xabi in the middle, 2 wide boys, kuyt up top and bellamy in the 'aimar' role in a 4-2-3-1 formation for the west ham game saturday!

Agree totally except with Kuyt in the hole rather than Bellers. Kuyt is more of a support striker and Bellamy is better at running the channels and stretching defences, which is exactly what we need playing against teams at Anfield

Well he could keep Woodgate company talking about the old days in Madrid. To be honest I'm not a fan. He's a bit of a midfield scuffler.

Actually, Xabi sits deep alonside Momo and it's Momo who leaves his holding role when we're going forward to support the attack, far more so than Xabi, so Gerrard could still paly in the advanced role. Alternatively Gerrard could play the Momo role to perfection and we use someone like Garcia behind the striker.
