The way I see it is that Rafa made mistakes early in the season trying to give our big guns well needed rest and he mucked about with the teams which destroyed our season early on.

Games against Mancs and Arsenal were a disaster and away to Chelsea we were somewhat unlucky.

Although the table doesn't lie - I had huge expectations going into the new season last time round and I think it was more circumstance than a poor squad that left us trailing - I actually believe we had a better squad than the scum last season but we suffered from a bad start and some injuries and poor beginnings from players like bellers and pennant that were expected to perform straight off and didn't.

I really think that even with the current lot we have - which have gelled and been through a horrible defeat in Athens together will come back stronger and even more together. I think we can win the head to heads next season even with out current lot due to the rest and what they've been through last season

Nearly bed time I know, but do you mean 20+ Million or 20+ league goals?

        Goals i mean

Quick out the blocks for once and that will have us in a great position for the end. We have had bad starts to the season and finished strongly but just too late

          I thought so.

But in this day and age, the 20+ striker is quickly becoming a myth.

Exactly, it was the same at Valencia too...

The difference there was that Rafa had lots of goal scoring midfielders.

Hows the bed, warm???? I'd spend 30 million for RVN to take him back to England. I hope Torres can do the biz but only if he gets two good wingers to provide for him

Thats the key we need a better contribution for all over the park id like the defenders to chip in more at set pieces.

We need more attacking players far too many defensive players in the team.

Yes, but I don't think back then, they were all goalscoring DEFENSIVE midfielders. I hope the tide turns in that department soon.

Ooops, posted at the same time again.

Agree with the defenders chipping in. Ok so JAR gets a decent share, but Carra with his 1 in 8 years and Finnan with about the same.

Not quite on a par with Terry, Carvalhio, Rio or even Vidic.

Although I gotta admit. These defenders goals are usually just a bonus when you are walking a match. The true match winners are up front and from Midfield where we just have Stevie.

One reason why Carra doesn't get as many goals as Terry and other centre backs is because our delivery from corners and set pieces has been dog**** for years. Rafa has to sort this out this season, set pieces are a good chance to score and we squander most of ours.
Having said all that, I think Agger will add his fair share of goals

Well I suppose most of our corners fail to beat the first man, but the percentage that does, you would expect a better return than the odd Sami headed goal than we get at the moment?

Agree though. We get LOADS of corners every game and do naff all with them. We have to treat each corner like it's a penalty opportunity from now on.

We have plenty of feckin coaches, why don't they sort it out? A professional team competing at the highest level has to maximise every opportunity they get as they are generally quite scarce.
We should be a threat at every set piece, instead my heart sinks when we get a freekick.

Dont rate some on the coaching staff that Miller doesnt give off a great vibe dont like him one bit. Shows no emotion just sits with his legs crossed and does fook all else

What you on about? Off course I'd accept the league and crashing out straight away in the cups. But this thread asked the question of what are your expectations, not what is the minimum LFC must acheive for me to be happy.

I think not winning in Athens could turn out to be a blessing in disguise for us. No Super Cup or midseason World Club Championship to distract us from winning #19.
