    UEFA rank Liverpool...

Just read over on icLiverpool that UEFA have ranked Liverpool third in the world. Sounds UEFA have a love/hate affair with us.

"AC Milan and Barcelona, are the only sides that are seeded higher than Liverpool"

It is a points sytem based on performance in europe over 5 years, we are 3rd highest ranked team in europe this year not the world. It is because we have played good teams and got so far for the past few years.

Are we not 3rd due the co-efficients?

Which basically is a points system determined by how teams have performed in European competition over the past 5 amount of years.

          *edit--Sonsofthedesert got there first..

That means we will be top seed in Qualifying round 3 and also in Pot1 if/when we get to the group stages, thereby avoiding the likes of AC and Barca in the group phase
Lawrenson:"Well thats 3 good chances they have had in the first 3 minutes of this half"

Motson:"" Yes Mark, you could almost say that they have had 3 chances in as many minutes"

Lawrenson: Errr I thought I just did say that, John"

How on earth can we have less points than Milan in 2004/05 season?!

We've played Juventus, Chelsea and defeated Milan in the final. FFS!

Probably because we struggled through the group. We have more than them this year.

I don't think the quality of opposition matters in determining the points. I believe it is number of wins times a coefficient for the competition. Like CL is worth 2 and UEFA cup 1. Something like that. The weird though though is how high Sevilla is bc even though they dont get as many points per win, they play more games and get more wins (as opposed to draws) since competition isnt as good.

Either way, it's good to be up at the top. At least we are above the other English teams.

I thought it was purely down the your results and some applied formula of the coefficient of the team you play. Hence why Newcastle are doing so well. Getting almost as many point as us when is 2004/2005 - we were champions of europe and they got the the quarters or semis of the uefa cup.
