On Saturday Lasty was doing some work at someone's house and the fella says he's going for a paper does he want one? Without thinking Lasty says oh yeah, cheers. The fella comes back with the rag! I caught Lasty trying to sneak it into our recycling bin. It was still in pristine condition. he said " I didn't know what to say when he gave it me, the fella wouldn't have a clue, I just stuck it in the back of the van".

Read the blog M8 it's all there from his sun hat (and proof that he knew about the boycott at the time) to him carrying adverts for the rag on his site, and possible reasons why he sais the HJC is too political

but I dont think we should muddy the waters on this thread, by bringing that site into the debate

Motson:"" Yes Mark, you could almost say that they have had 3 chances in as many minutes"

Listen, I'm an OOTer but have commented on this on both KT and 6CM.

The Sun isn't responsible for what was printed, McKenzie was. He deserves to be vilified to the ends of the earth 'til the end of his time. He is no longer in charge at the Sun, and I very much doubt there is anybody there now that was present for Hillsborough. As long as he and the journo's that concocted the lies cannot sleep at night, I'm happy.

But, as has been pointed out by many other people, some buy the Times, some buy NOTW and most of us subscribe to Sky in one way or another. Are we all guilty by association?

I don't think so. For everyone who boycotts the Murdoch Empire out of principle, I salute you, you are true to your cause. But for every one of you there are 1,000's who don't. Are they hypocrites? If so I am one. I regularly watch Sky.

VANTAGE, THE SUN WAS AND IS RESPONSIBLE. the sun could easily come out and distance itself from mckenzie and any other wacko that was involved. a sincere and utter regret without any ploys or public relations to be the agenda.
the boycott does not extend to the other areas of murdochs empire so thats not the issue. do you buy the sun?

bob NI has nothing to do with it therefore i dont see how pictures of mcguiness and paisley posted in a liverpool forum would contribute to the boycott of the rag

I think its becuase someone posted a pic of Paisley with Martin Mcguiness in the thread. What it has to do with this i dont know. Someone should post a pic of Spongebob as it's the same pointless excuse to cover half the thread.

I don't buy any paper as I live abroad. Yes, I can get UK papers but they're very expensive. When I was in the UK, yes, I did buy the Sun amongst others. But I was from down South and it's only when you join up to forums such as these that you maybe begin to understand the feeling, the hurt and the disgust that is felt in Liverpool for the aforementioned paper.

I'm just making a point that the entity that is the Sun is different now to the Hillsborough days. And I would like to know why the ban doesn't apply to Murdoch's other businesses.

Did Murdoch own the Sun at the time? If so he was equally culpable, so ban all of his products. If not, the Sun has changed hands so why still boycott it.

Look, I know this isn't a popular view, and I'm not out for an argument, but really for me it's simple. You either voluntarily withdraw from all Murdoch products or not.

And its at the request of the families of the victims. If the Families came out and said 'Boycot Sky, The Times, Fox etc etc' people will respect their wishes and im sure most would boycot them too.
Until they do, the boycot is fair and should be carried on until they say otherwise.
