Betis stayed up, but Speedy still here? I know Betis sacked the coach, but thought we had an agreement in place anyway?
Maybe we are touting him to another club?

Didn't Betis fire their coach? Second thoughts maybe.
he's also playing in the copa america, might have something to do with that

i would rather give him a chance. we have seen what he is capable of so why not let him have a second season chance. it isnt like we are going to lose loads of money on him if he doesnt cut it this year as we are looking to sell him for peanuts anyway
in january we were doomed.
in august we will rise from the ashes of ****e and march on again

It would be the wise move to hold until him until after the Copa America.
He could have a stormer, hence attracting more clubs, causing his value to rise. He could even play well enough to convince Rafa to give him another season. Even if 'the greatest player to come out of Chile' plays poorly, someone is still sure to take him.
Personally, I would give him another season.
If we are all only happy when we are really winning in the end, when your race finishes, what life would that be?
Given all this talk of player needing to be bedded in etc etc, I think he should at least have 1 more season to get himself going.
I'd really like to see him make it.
Me too, but I think that you have to imagine that Rafa having seen him as a person and in training regularly is in a better position to judge him. If we are to keep hold of one left winger to see if they can do a job for us next season, behind a new first choice, I would rather it was Kewell as he has shown he can do it in the PL.

Was shocked when it came out that we were getting rid so early as although he hasn't had a good season by all accounts he's shown glimpses and is still young. Especially after it took so fookin long to get the transfer through.
Saying that he has been in and out of trouble a few times (getting sent home from int duty for one) - maybe something has gone on behind the scenes hence the no-patience outlook by Rafa.

Wasn't he involved in a fracas with Bellamy just before the Bluenose away game?
Must be some reason other than football why they're getting rid as it's unusual for Rafa to get rid after only one season & especially after trying so hard to get him here in the first place...
What do you mean it could've been anyone? Name me one person who's got a grudge against penguins
I want him to stay for another year. He had a few injuries last year and didn't get a long run in the team, I have a feeling that if he leaves we will pay for it big time as he becomes the best left winger in the world.
I think it's a foul, and if the ref gives it. He got to give a penalty. I know it's outside the box, but you see them given that close to the area. So if the ref gives it he's got to give the penalty as it so close to the area. But I think it's a penalty. Robbie Savage 8/11/06
