    He'll do fine.

I'm optimistic in the long term, maybe not the short term though.

My main concern is that the chavs have raised the bar to the extent that any club that wants to mount a serious challenge for the league has to hit the ground running, right from the very start of the season. No matter how good Torres is, it is inevitable that he will take some time to settle. IMHO Tevez would have been a better (or at least less risky) option in the short term because at least he wouldn't be moving to a new country and a new type of football. My fear is that by the time Torres starts showing his best form, we will have too much ground to make up.

He isn't a particularly risky signing in financial terms though. He is good enough and young enough so that if things don't work out for the lad there is every chance that we can get back most of what we paid for him a couple of years down the line.
      Never knowingly optimistic

I am considerably less excited than when we signed Stanley Victor cos he was the man to be signed that summer, I think Tevez is that man this summer and we aint gonna get him.
Hopefully he will settle in quick and be able to use his pace away from home without being offside 20 times a game, i believe the element we need to win the league is pace away from home.

If Torres does the business and Voronin is worth his wages, would everyone be happy with a front 4 choice of Torres, Kuyt, Crouch, Voronin? Or do we still think we need improvement

point being hopefully it seems like we've sorted GK, CD, CM, FW, ST, only leaves the flanks and the full back positions, and even then the FB's really don't need that much improvement

I think he will shine at certain stages next season and bang in a few nice goals, but, I would be very pleasantly surprised if he managed to do it consistently next season. He will be adapting for the first season, largely due to Rafa's rigid formations and tactics. It wont be like at United where Slur Alex allows his best attacking players total freedom.
That's my worry! Don't get me wrong I think Torres is talented without a doubt but I worry he will struggle to flourish with Benitez's negative approach to games.

I can't help but think he would be amazing in a Arsenal or Man utd team. I really hope with a few more additions we will start to see some exciting flowing football. however Benitez has never been one to set his team up to play the sort of football many of the fans expect.

Oh the man is a midfield maestro
and his passes are sooo delightful

Benitez has never been with a rich team. Before now. I say he has done wonders, miracles even with the very limited resources he has had up until now. No one knows what he will do now regarding the style of play. I for one trust him implicitly and to be honest I couldnt care less if we win No.19 with **** football or total football.
