I have no expectations. It's easier that way.

I can't help but think he would be amazing in a Arsenal or Man utd team. I really hope with a few more additions we will start to see some exciting flowing football. however Benitez has never been one to set his team up to play the sort of football many of the fans expect.
        have to agree.
Although I do respect Rafa's management skills and approach to the game, his tactics are nothing short of phenomenal in Europe. I can understand why they worked better in the Spanish League aswell.
Premiership is such a frantic pace that it doesn't allow a team time t settle. problem with us is, our squad, with many new additions will take a while to settle into Rafa's tactics and rotation policy. We have never really started a season well since Rafa has arrived, always seem to have a decent finish though. We keep players fresher than the other top teams do and are far more flexible tactically.
I could never see us going gung ho like some teams do, unless we are chasing a game.
It will take Torres and the new players a while to adjust. I just hopes he adjusts like Mascherano has, but then again, Rafa has him playing the role exactly how he likes. Remains to be seen I guess what way Rafa will want to play Torres. Slightly on the left or right I would think, but in that position, I would like to see him have a bit of freedom, not the Bellamy role of last season, being told largely just to stretch the defense for the rest of the team.
Bill shankly to Tommy Smith after he'd turned up for training with a bandaged knee:
'Take that poof bandage off, and what do you mean YOUR knee, it's LIVERPOOL'S knee !'

"Sorry, boss, I should have kept my legs together," said Lawrence. "No, Tommy, your mother should have kept her legs together!," replied Shankly.

I expect him to offer a threat on goal - especially in those games where we 'go to sleep' and simply don't turn up - you know the ones. If he can turn those bore draws into wins and then score 15 league goals on top of them then I'd be chuffed.

Being able to put the balls into the channels and turning the opposition defence to face their own goal will be a nice option as well. We had it with Cisse to an extent - but he couldn't hold the ball up if he latched onto it.

He seems to have the lot in his locker - although someone who knows the player better might be able to pull me up on that - but for the first time in his career he'll have to cope with a massive weight of expectation (and transfer fee).

If he handles that, he'll be a success here IMO.
I'd go with that, I think he has a lot of heart and wont shrik away from the challenge, like Morientes did.
I think he's had the expectation before, he was a wonderkid at Atletico and was made captain at a very young age and has had to carry their hopes for years.

I think 15 league goals, 6 cl goals.

Collymore and Fowler got 50+ between them in their first season together. I'd settle for Torres and Kuyt doing the same this season for starters!

                  Very true.

From what I've seen of Torres, he likes to move into the channels. We were seldom successful with Bellamy in those areas - the home game against United when he mullered Vidic was an exception - but Torres does this very well.

He'll work equally well with Crouch or Kuyt, I reckon.

I expect big things from him.
He will take a while to adapt, there is no doubt about that but he has pace, skill, flair, hunger and youth on his side.
I think over time he will make a massive impact, i just hope we provide him with good service. We have the players to do that though...Finnan, Gerrard, Alonso, Kewell(if fit), Kuyt and Crouch.
I'm over the moon with this signing.

Until a few people mentioned this the other day i was convinced Torres was a real box player if you like, the fox in the box. Ballague mentioned earlier he can play that role but we will see how things pan out next season.
