Torres purchase convinced Rafa to stay?

    Just read this:-

Liverpool chief executive Rick Parry says the striker's arrival persuaded manager Rafa Benitez to stay. (People)

"If Gerrard continues to play up front, leaving this lack of creativity and intelligence in Midfield, the season WILL be over by Xmas."

I still don't think we'll finish in the top 4 this season."

EXCLUSIVE: NETTING NANDO WILL KEEP RAFA AT KOP
                    By Steve Bates

THE £21 million signing of Fernando Torres has kept boss Rafa Benitez at Liverpool and out of the clutches of Real Madrid.

That's the verdict of Liverpool chief executive Rick Parry, who says the decision by American owners Tom Hicks and George Gillett to buy the 23-year-old Atletico Madrid striker has finally convinced Benitez to stay.

Parry said: "I was never in any doubt about the strength of commitment of the owners. But seeing is believing so it was important to get players like Steven Gerrard and Jamie Carragher re-signed and then critical to get the right big signing - which we've done.

"I never doubted the backing would be there for Rafa. Maybe by signing Torres it is the seeing and believing for him. But until you go out and try to secure the deals, you can never be certain."

By signing young teenagers from around the world and Torres on a six year deal Benitez has indicated he's now at Anfield for the long-haul.

The Kop boss said: "With the young players we are bringing here, some of them are 16 or 17 and I know it will be five years before they are in the first team. But it's about the future of the club as well as the present.

"If Gerrard continues to play up front, leaving this lack of creativity and intelligence in Midfield, the season WILL be over by Xmas."

I still don't think we'll finish in the top 4 this season."

The People is 'reading between the lines' of the Parry interview.

Or 'making **** up' would be more accurate.

It's pretty worrying if an ounce of it is true. I wouldn't like to think Rafa will be on the brink of walking out at any time in the future if something didn't happen that he asks for.

Still, until I hear it from Rafa's mouth then I won't lose any sleep over it.
