Didi off to Man City, plus more on Barragan & Cisse

    From icLiverpool:

[quote]LIVERPOOL have finally generated extra funds by freeing up Didi Hamann's wages - despite the German's glorious Anfield career ending in inappropriate chaos.

Hamann, as has been expected for the past week, is set to complete his move to Manchester City today but a technicality over his initial transfer negotiations with Bolton Wanderers threw the whole episode into confusion.

Hamann put pen to paper on a pre-contract agreement with Bolton last month when he conceded that his first team opportunities under Rafael Benitez would be too few to justify seeing out the final year of his contract.

Wanderers officially took the player's registration yesterday, which prompted Liverpool to issue a statement saying he had joined the Reebok Stadium club.
But in a bizarre twist, negotiations between Hamann and Bolton had already unearthed a U-turn by the player, who is now set to join City today.

Yeah good luck Didi, although he was coming to the end of his career, he probably feels like he has a good full season left and he obviously wasn't going to get here.

I'm sure he'll get a great reception at anfield.

ps- great signing for city btw, he will be a good influence on Joey Barton

Just read The Mirror at lunch, and this is interesting (and alarming). I have only transcribed the final two paragraphs but it seems as though (and the Official site backs this up) that we DID sell him officially to Bolton yesterday.

      David Maddox, The Mirror:

"....it becomes then, one of the shortest spells any player has spent with a club in football history, and could represent an interesting day's work for Bolton"

"They agreed a fee for Hamann based on appearances, and so are unlikeley to have to pay Liverpool anything, given that he only appeared for one day"
It transpires that a bit of Didi dithering (something very rare in his 7 years at Anfield) has cost us

Didi's last joke! Carra always said he was the biggest clown in the changing room.

gonna miss him much. He is one of the most consistent players in our team and always always shows up in big games especially Finals!!
