Adding one defender and winger (Heinze and Simao for example) and Rafa has a tough job keeping everybody happy although he´ll have lot´s of options.

It's only really just over 2 players per position, count in fatique and the fact that some of those players shouldn't be listed in the first team squad (in reality) and it is perfect size really.

What is so good about it is that now you are talking about upgrading rather than building.

I can see where you're coming from mate but I'd rather have a big squad with quality players coming in for each other rather then 11 1st teamers and another 15 gob****es,like we've had for a long time now.

I think 20-22 players should be enough and if you get hugh injury problems then a reserve or young team player should get a chance.

That would keep everyone match fit and ready to step in if Rafa need him from game one instead of waiting two-three games to get the player match fit when Rafa need him.

I remember Ged talking about the perfect squad size. He reckoned 8 defenders, 8 midfielders, 5 strikers and 3 keepers = 24.

Well, if we are competing on four fronts for a good portion of the season I don't think it will be a problem sharing competitive games amongst the squad. IMO, it can only be good for us to have so many talented players trying to force themselves into the first team.
